Shortys, you need to post the wires of the robots in their original forums, and the wires of only the scene elements here. I'm curious about the palm trees, did you use a transparency map on the leaf part? How many idols are there, I'd be interested in seeing the wires for those as well.

My eyes are probably mistaken, ( and they do from time to time ) it looks like post # 245 is of robots in a composited ' photo ' background.
Hehe, hopefully my eyes ARE mistaken because a composited background is personna non grata for this competition. The twist to the rule for this two week run is that the background ' scene ' be entirely modelled from scratch within sixty minutes.
If my eyes truly still work ya might want to throw a ' non-entry ' disclaimer on the image. Or, in the equally possible event my eyes need stronger lenses, ya might want to post a wireframe of that background so the judges eyes don't suffer from the same ' is that a composited background ' issue mine currently do :)
If I am incorrect in this statement, then I whole-heartedly apologize ahead of time :)

hi thanks for comments guys.I'm glad to see you like my scene.
I saw some new cool entrys
Specially dereksc i like the invasion in downtown and like the posture of your hero bot.
Fonloni like youre secne with fracture in the wall.i think its a good way for scene battle to crash some elements of the scene moreover the light is nice (a bit overburn).
Ian8811...i like the feeling of movement of youre bot in the arena.
Stojan dimovsimple scene but i like a lot the original concept....you explore an other way of the battle..original!
captain popo :let me tell you i like a lot your' hero robot....it looks very caricatural and i like a lot.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Al3x, great scene, love the red reflecting off the heros front legs. It looks like you tried to blur out the back in PS, maybe try rendering one with the Depth of Field on instead (if you have time). It'd be nice to see more of the evil bot too. Good job, though.
Ian, like your entry as well, good use of the biped. :) The cloth and dirt flying look really nice, nice texturing too.
hello again :D ,thaks allot for the comments ..
so there it is my last post 4 this week/s ;)
these is like the last scene when the hero robot claim victory of the war :)
aniway u can find out by your selvs ...enjoy
done in max 8
modeled in 20 min rest aprox 20 min
BTW ..yeah I've tried to bloor in PS but I'm satisfied enought to not change it ...that and the thing that it took 30 min -1 h to render

2 bots racing and battling through a canyon land, not yet textured. Smaller robot is in fact, 'the hero'.

pijp_CCCI: good work, but i think that your wires is too much small, try to enlarge them and maybe use only one (next you have to post evil 'n hero robot to previous week).
I can see them just greith .just post the hero and evil bot pics to their thread ;) and texture it coess it looks cool ,but I think its more ice than rock there :))
and betasoft I like what u've done in that scene,it looks like a toy city , the render is great

to al3x: so if you want textures of houses, you could visit my website tomorrow, cause i haven't it upgraded now. and that effect of moove is partly done by DOF and partly by circular defocusing in photoshop. I can't publish textures of roads and paves cause this is not for free (it is licenced).

al3x: you have truth, in net is not enought free textures, and if is it takes you lot of time to edit it. Best solution is have enough good digital camera and after it you could have textures which you want
krume_dimov: thanks for your comment!

Hey guys!
This is my first final entry ever! I like what I've been seeing so far. The picture you see below was made and rendered in Lightwave 8.5 with the exception of the desert landscape. That mesh was created in Terragen and edited in Lightwave. The plants are just 2D polys with a plant texture and a transparency alpha. I am really happy with the final result :D!
Keep up the good work!

I wish I had seen the challenges from the last couple weeks, I would have submitted entries. Instead, I did the Evil Robot, then the Hero Robot, and put them together in battle.
Nowhere near as good as a lot of the entries here, but it was quick.
Software: Autodesk Viz 2006
Time: Battle Scene - 35 Minutes (Greeble wall, posing characters)
Evil Robot - 50 minutes
Hero Robot - 45 minutes
I decided not to texture anything, and just let the geometry show itself.
I'd kind of like to post my Hero and Evil 'bots, but I don't know if you can submit in the old posts after the week is over.

In fact, you are supposed to post them in the old threads in order for them to count in this final scene. You said you didn't have much time, but the limit on each robot was 90 minutes. Nice work though. :)

Here is a quick scene, not to happy with it especially the textures but I really wanted to get an entry in since I had taken the time to enter the evil robot and I had a bit of timethe past few days. thanks for the comments DerekSc
very nice entries all round everyone!
Hello, I have one quick question.
I created my entry, but then got struck by a doubt. Is the posing of the robot part of the modelling time or not?
In the hand competition the time for rigging and posing of the hand was outside, but I am not certain here. I created both robots in their respective times and then spent whole 60 minutes on the scene environment modelling and adding the robots (well, merging of scenes. Done under one minute :)). But I did the posing outside the allocated time. I have doubts here. Is it ok, since it does not change the modelled geometry, or is it not ok, since it belongs to the scene?
I do not think I will redo the model tonight, so the question should be more like: should I post it as an entry, or non entry? :)
Thank you :)
edit:
- as I went over other submission, it seems posing is outside the time.

very good idea representing the battle scene such the known playstation games.
Ian
arena is the good choice.there u may create a scenario even.maybe u could give the metal texture for the CS made spectators.nice scene.

JAPO: Actually, for the battle scene, I think the posing is part of the 60 minutes, since you don't actually have to model them. Normally layout is not counted in the modeling time, but since we're doing a scene and importing objects from other challenges, they're counting it this time. That's how I interpreted the rules for this week, at least. Mods, am I correct in this or have I been wasting valuable modeling time on this one?
edit:
Looking back, I can't find the post that made reference to the layout time. I know rigging isn't included, but I thought posing was... d'oh! Well, if layout isn't part of it, you can knock about 5 minutes off my original entry time and about 15 off my new one. :xx:
Mods, what's the ruling on this? (I can hear the wet fish being drawn from it's sheath...)
DerekSc:
Hello :) I ask, because I am not sure. But judging from other entries, if what you say is true, there will be many DQ. In addition, there was no warning from mods when people wrote that they did the posing outside the allocated time.
Another thing in favour of posing being outside the time is, that posing is not modelling.
Another would be that if posing was in the allocated time, people with simple robots would be in advantage over those with more human or animal like robots. Simple robots without many movable parts would be allowed more time for the scene than octopuses :)
I do not say you are wrong, that is why I ask :) Right now I am off to home where I will put together the image with wire and post all of them :)
edit: if it is not possible, then ok. At least I will post it for fun :)

hadidavfx verry cool enry .but it's too bad that the hero robot hasn't got any reflection or smooth ....and watch out that the laser is not alinghed with the evil robot/bike's exaust sistem ;)

Yeah, it may make a few people unhappy... but I know that the subject was covered and I really can't go behind everyone to correct them. I really wish I could though... but unfortunately it's just not possible. That just means that people are going to have to be more careful when entering the challenges, and try reading the posts of others to make sure there isn't anything they may have missed.

Liuk, you've still got time, so post the good and evil robots in their respective forums with a wire in the shot, and replace your battle scene with one that has a wire of your environment only in it as well. Hurry! 1.5 hours left!
(if the bots are already in the other forums, just delete post 295)

Hello :)
Thank you, I understand that. You all do a good job. :)
...but... whats with you and wet fish?
So here come my quick battle.
Done in Max 8.0 in 60 minutes. Whew, it was a close one. Posing was within those 60 minutes.
Texturing was much faster than in the original scene, as I reused the textures. To explain the wire...
I start with low poly and then smooth, adjust, smooth and collapse. So the right wire is the final one. Before smooth, it is the left one, but it is not the final one. That is because there is no low poly wire in the final version.
Inspired by one photo from World War One from Somme region.
JAPO Damn whath a scene
I'ts like castle wolfeinstein from my opinion .great man I love it

The idea is that the Hero bot is bursting through the doors and the Evil one tries to return fire. Coulden't pull of bullet sparks but they're supposed to hit the sword and the upper door, in a wild spray.
Motion blur, glow, slight clowds added in Photoshop (it was rendered with a gradient backround).
Maybe I should have motion blurred the Hero aswell but that would have looked messy.
I also switched possitions of the rocket pack and mini gun since the muzzle flash (planes with opacity maps) obstructed his head, not remodeled though, just moved.
Backround modeled in 60 minuts, spend a few extra hours texturing the objects and re-texturing robots.
For a bigger render (other then my official entry) click HERE (http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/3467/fightrender1sr.jpg).

Al3x, thanks for the advise. Unfortunatley, I didn't have enough time to fix before the time limit was up. The hero robot does have reflections, they just didn't show up as well as I would have liked. Also, I tried smoothing out the body of the hero robot, but I liked the unsmoothed version better- it gave it a more hi-tech look. Well, it was my first final speed ing post so I'll take it in account for next time :)
Props to: al3x, JAPO, suicidalduck, XYZ, Ian8811946, Hermes, julayen, yan, and betasoft.

I wanted to get this one in too. I had not made either robot in the previous challanges, so I put all three pieces together.
I got hung up in the texturing a bit longer than I expected, but I want to show what I did all the same. =)
