Maya 7.0 UI issue

Hello.

I've been using Maya 7 for a week or two now fine, no issues at all. Just tonight though when I opened it, I found myself limited on what I could do. I cant use any of the toolbox things, clicking on the icons doesnt change the tool for me like it should, and my shelfs are messed up and Im having the same issues when I try to change them to different ones. Its like half the interface is locked on me. Any ideas how to fix this?

if someone who has experienced and fixed this issue, could you please give me insight on what you have done?

Ive reinstalled, deleted prefs, defaulted ui etc. I cant get the right click menu to appear nor can i select the tools on the side bar (move, scale, rotate). i can still use them through hotkeys tough qwerty. Its a big inconvenience to not be able to pull up the right click menu though. please help!

please, if anyone has heard of this problem, leme know. I cant find anything on it through google and I was amazed when i finally found out that some1 had the same problem (thought this post was burried). I really would appreciate it if i could get this working soon. I have something i need to work on for class tommorrow, so it would be helpfull :P

go into your maya folder thats in my documents, delete the userprefs file in the folder

Every once in a while the interface locks up on me (selecting stuff in the dropdown menus doesn't do anything). In fact it just happened about a min ago. Reopening the program fixes it for me though.

make sure you don't press caps lock. it changes your hot keys. it annoyed the hell out of me until i figured out what it was. but that might not be applicable to menus....
