hi there friends.... here, i announce the 45th Speed Painting Challenge, starts today and ends on the 17th of May, 2006, wednesday.
topic: "Guitar". paint any kind that u like to...be it, spanish/flamenco, electric, bass or rythm/lead. its good to paint a combination, a guitar with its amplifier, or u can even paint a player playing a guitar (not a group/band)...decision is all yours. its the treatment that counts...:).
quite a few members wanted this as our topic since long. we will be having choices as before in the next one...:).
u can post your artwork till the 17th of May. after that, voting time.
all the best.....
Important: a person is allowed to post 2 pieces if one wants to and has to mention which entry is the final one. more than 2 wont be considered votable.

interesting entries...:).
psypuff...sure, be creative and make as many as u want, but pls post 2 of your good ones and do let us know which one is the final/votable entry. generaly speaking, one piece per person is allowed for challenges, even some friends here are in favor of just one entry, but i think 2 are fine. more than that creates confusions. and its always good to have some rules set for challenges. sure to see your pieces soon...:).
illegal, how about scanning it and working over it using some painting software, coz it has to be in a digital form...:). im sure it'll look really good.
all the best to everyone...:).

hi again illegal. its there, i see it and so does fibre optix...read his comment. so no worries...:). but pls just make it in digital form thru any of the painting softwares. pure tradional work doesnt really fit in the Speed painting challenge. u can even go thru the Rules.
Here is mine, nothing spectacular. Wacom + Macromedia Flash (I actualy like drawing in it) + 40 min = this....
good drawing ! and,
wow, can you use a wacom with flash,, great I didnt know that, I love to draw in flash, more than any other software. some day I'll buy one of those, when I really need it.
Didn't your computer get slow with all those lines in flash ?? ?

Hi, great entries so far.
That´s a crispy linedrawing of that rollin´guy, fibre optix. I like that clear flash appoach. And I like this very light drawing too, Xyz.
For my pic I used an inked pencil-drawing as basic and switched then to photoshop with some colour-tones und motionblur. Time: under 1h. You can definitly see that, but hey, its a speedpainting session.
nich so bescheiden karsten, that's really amazing. very interesting style with cool colors. u really have a great talent in painting, the colors, the composition, the perspective, everything is top notch! very cool.
wo hast du studiert wenn ich fragen darf?

uhhhh visuelle, that girl make me go rrrrrrrrrr...... ;) good job
rusted, nice one, and an interesting choice of colours. i like it.
and waheed, i'm a big fan of your works. i like that impressionistic "no line art". could you explain about that technique somehow? i'm wondering how to achieve that look with digital means, as it looks it was painted traditional(especially those thick oil fake brushstrokes). really cool.
waheed nasir
10-05-2006, 10:04 AM
thank u so much rusted and rico...:).
rico, i think its just because of the fine art bacground i think, i treat these kind of digital paintings just the way i do my real oils. there is no such techique but let me give u some of my points (like what i do): treatment is very spontaneous, no initial sketch, i just start directly with brush and color (even when i paint on real canvas), i dont go into details and just suggest things, give impressions. thats about it...:). one last thing is before going into this style, one must know how to draw well, though there is no drawing under it, but the knowledge of drawing helps thruout in suggesting things...:).
visuelle...that front page image of guitar (for speed painting challenge), is not an entry here, i made that for the frontpage alone when i announced the challenge, no entry was here at that time.
thank u folks...:).

hello xatmo...:). looks nice, but pls do post a digital version of this, a raw pencil sketch (just scanned), doesnt fit in the Speed Painting Challenge. it has to be in digital form.
sketch...scan...and work on it in any of the painting softwares and then post.
this will look good after that im sure...:).

hello there, here's my entry for this one. i chose to do a comic style as i'd like to improve in that, so it was good to get some experience in.
photoshop, wacom, no ref, about 2 h
Hey Rico, your comic style is coool just I think u need more work on foots n hands, btw angle of view n these dirty or grufity walls is so coool ;)
keep up good works all :)

hey, this is my shot at this one. I wanted to try something new, and I was partly inspired by some of the great "line art" style paintings I've seen so far in this challenge. I attempted to make this kind of abstract in a way, and left my guide line sketch in there as part of the drawing. sketching things like this is really different -- you really feel the "speed" in speed-paint. I might try to go for a sketchier style in future challenges, because it was a lot of fun. anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Rusted- I like the black and white rendition you put up, reminds me alot of a mexican day of the dead (halloween)
Waheed- what can I say.....? awesome work love the brush strokes in the painting, I like the contrast in the painting.
Rico- LOVING the comic style, it always has a place in my heart :) really though feels like a Gorillaz charcter only meaner and tougher.
Ill be posting my soon i just sketched it on paper but i havent attempted anything in the digital world.

hello there rawwad...nice to see u here...:).
as its a speed painting challenge, its better if u paint as quickly as possible...though there is no such rule, but i personaly think, 30 t0 45 mins time, per artwork, is okay...:).

Enter 4, and save it.it won't get Heavy in File size but the image size will become Larger....btw Nice work (focal loss)

Dear Friends: Hi!
Ops! I forget grateful the words of Ximahmoud for my artwork. Thanks Xim. I did it the best that I could. When I was a child I had a lot of artistic influence of the POP Art: Warhold (Marilyn Series), Lichtenstein (in special his masterwork WHAAM!), the movie “Yellow Submarine” of The Beatles, the Posters of Peter Max… In general, all the POP Art. When I arrived at The Superior School of Art, at Mordor, makes me change all the parameters, because they tolds (profesors) that I was living in the past. Well: I becomed in Renaissance’s painter, HeHeHe. Nevertheless, I scape from time to time to my infancy.
Thanks for you opinion
To XYZ: You are cuban.
:hmm: :smug:
To DerekSC: HeHeHe. You are very funny. Thanks

Great Paintings here, there have been a lot of traditional painter-like approaches, that look really fantastic.
My Votes:
1st ximahmoud
2nd cabrito
3rd Lemmy
Comments:
Xyz (Simply nice),
Rusted (There is definitly some magic in the colours. ),
Rico (Sehr schöne dreckige Zeichnung von dem Gitarrendesperado in der Betonzelle)
Waheed Great impresionistic piece! Is it done with Painter? It´s amazing how it takes a lot of the goodies You get by traditional painting.
