Hey everybody,

I am relitively new to max, and have only been using it for a number of months. I am working on modeling a character by using a low poly mesh with symmetry and a mesh smooth modifier put on.

I am working in at the bottom of the stack with the lower polygon mesh to create my desired end result.

The wierd thing is, when I opened my file today to start working, for some reason I couldnt see any of my vertices while in sub-object mode for the low poly mesh. I can select edges, borders, faces, and whatnot,.. but for some reason my verts aren't even visible - even with the vert button selected.

I can see the verts if i go to the vertex sub-object within the mesh smooth modifier however.

Any idea what this is? Is there a way to hide vertices? (im using max 7)

Thanks for your help.

Do you have it as part of a stack; meaning have you got the meshsmooth modifier activated on the top or something? You can deactivate the modifiers above the one you are 'on' by pressing the test tube icon.

I've had this before a few times, and I can't remember what it was. I actually think I just exitted the program and starting up again and it was okay - probably a bug???

I actually found out what my problem was. There is a Hide selected, Hide unselected, and Show All button in the sub-object mode menu for verts. I most likely clicked the Hide Unselected button while one of my verts was selected. This would hide all your others, and make them unselectable.
