i was following tutorail at http://www.onnovanbraam.com/index.php?tutorials/pm-5-tech1/
i followed every step but i dont get the same results
here is what am getting

to get an result as the one in the tutorial go to the meshsmooth modifier rollout and under Subdivision Method select Classic in the drop-down menu instead of Nurms or Quad

still its kinda messy, is it because of my graphic card?

thats not the graphic card
i think you added the Smooth modidifer instead of Meshsmooth
in the meshsmooth rollout put the Ilitirations to about 2-4.
I don't think it has anything to do with the NURMS/Classic setting of the meshsmooth modifier.
Looks more like the right top edge in the first screenshot hasn't been chamfered and therefore becomes smoother than the other edges.
Could you show the wire of your mesh without the meshsmooth modifier? It's difficult to say why it comes out different with only seeing the end result.
