well im trying to import a movie generated in 3ds to flash...well i can render transparent using png format but when i render a avi or mov i cant get it without background...when i import it to flash i comes just a blank movie
im using 3ds max 5 (i already tried a enviroment with pure black background and i also tried use a transparent gif map for the background but it didnt work either
so....how can i render a movie with transparent background on 3ds so i can use it in flash!?!?!?!?

basically you are going to have to render out your animation as a series of pngs and import those into flash. This is really the only way to get your transparent background. Not sure if this is for the web or not. If it is you should optimize your animation to play in 12 frames per second rather than the defaut 30fps. Also, get rid of duplicate frames in flash when nothing is happening.
This method works well I use it all the time. While it does take a bit of work its what needs to be done unless you can get away with rendering out a pure movie and not needing the tranparency.
Good Luck.

thanks...well render the animation in png is a good solution but it takes too long to set it frame by frame in flash...
i think if anyone else has a solution for my problem tho...

Quick Reply
I'm surprised no one's made a program-ette that will automate the task of importing the frames into flash. Look around a little; maybe someone made a utility for doing that.

if your renders are numbered like 001 002, flash will import them automaticlly. You just sit and wait, while it doe all the work.

yep thats right-if your renders are numbered sequentially(which max does automatically when rendering out an animation as images) then flash will automatically import them and put them on the timeline in order.
The most important thing to do to save you time is to optimize the number of frames you render out to begin with. For example, if you render out your animtion going by the default 30fps in max you can take out every other frame you imported into flash and have the same animation if you keep flash set to the usual 12 or 15 fps which works for web. So by reducing the frames of your animation in half before you render you will save yourself alot of time.
