This is where you need to post your final entry's. Before you do, take a look at the winners gallery. Those are good examples of how you should layout your models.

I want to see:

-final pose/model layout
-model(front/left/back)
-texture sheet
-wires/polycount

Due date for submissions is the same, the 28th 11pm (GMT)

Voting will start that saturday.

Try to post everything in one post, to keep the thread clean. If your images are bigger than the attachment option can handle, use sites like imageshack and photobucket to help with the load.

it's hard to vote with all those nice monsters :)

Great works from you guys!

First place: BiG ToE-3DT

Model: 10/10
Model very well made, I love the style :D

Textures: 10/10
Nothing to crit on the texturing, it's just perfect for me, love the style, love the
color choice. Nice use of texture sheet space with the unwrap.

Idea/Concept: 9/10
I love the style, he looks wise and inspire respect, the only thing that bother
me are the feet, it's part of the style but imho that big guy couldn't walk on
soft ground like that. :smug:

Second place: Neosorcerer

Model: 9/10
Model very well made, nice use of opacity planes.

Textures: 9/10
Perfect color choice, the beauty render looks amazing! there is some black
space on the unwrap but it's not always easy to not waste space. I wanted
to make it 10/10 but its back on the side view looks a little bit flat compared
to the rest of the body. (talking about texture details)

Idea/Concept: 8/10
I loved the original idea, very well made. But for a monster it's not very
scary, I loved the overall look and that's why I choosed to vote this one
as a second place.

____________________________

Third place: Evil-98

Model: 9/10
Model very well made, nice style and I love the fact that you gave him
accessories. maybe a little bit too sharp on the edges of his legs on the
beauty render. (cause in front on the wire view it seems nice)

Textures: 8/10
Nice texturing work, a little bit too dark on some parts (almost plain black)
the blood on the face area is somehow weird around the sphere imho.
Some more detail to shape the body would have been great (to define the
round shapes)

Idea/Concept: 8/10
Nice concept, loved the fact he has accessories, like he's a killer hitchiker :)

another first time voter,
some really great models made this round. it was great to see such a great turn out and loved participating in it with everyone and cant wait for the next comp :) How ever the voting..

First place - Cleto - 29/30

model(9) - Looks solid in construction, and has good deformation lines for the facial and other movements.
texture(10) - the cartoony look really sets off the concept and the model it works really well with the character itself, good use of space and there is no stretching. its simple but effective :D
concept(10) - love the styling of the character, has that cuddly but sinister appeal the beauty render really portrays this :P and could almost fit into monsters inc .hehe

Second place - Neosorcerer - 27/30

model(8) - from what i can see the model is made well, but from certain angles it does look quite flat
texture(10) - Love the use of colour and the alpha mapping is good. the outcome its crystal clear just something that really stands out to my eyes
concept(9) - something very original about your design, just like Mr.T said doesnt really look scary but still very visually appealing

Third place - Big Toe 3DT - 24/30

model(8) - good anatomy for the poly count, but the feet are a bit off for the model but overall he gets alot of character showing through
texture(8) - great styling to it, the scaly/splotchy/leathery skin suits the monster, just seems to be a bit of stretching around the hands but that might just be me seeing things and the hair doesnt really show up too much. but good job overall
concept(8) - he has a lot of character to him and something quite unique

Ilkejav mk5: 30/30

model:10
very proffesional model
texture:10
absolutely the best made and applied texture here, it works so perfectly with the model
concept:10
awesome. looks like it's right out of jurassic park

second place:
neo socerer: 28/30

model:10
nice model, good use of alpha planes
texture:9
well painted, love the colors and as metioned, wonderfull use of alpha planes
concept:9
giant moth, very original

third:
cleto: 26/30

model: 9
very well model. vey simple
texture: 8
it's well painted, but very plain and simple. you could have done more
concept: 10
very comical, bright, funny creation. couldn't get over how much it reminded me of pixar.

this was hard to judge. we had so many entries this time! there are a few people worth mentioning:

kalango- i loved the way the bottom jaw is just gone, the entire monster looks like frankesnstien's monster gone horrible wrong.
evil-98- great job. the thing i love most about the monster is it's uv unwrap. very simple and functional. the reason you didin't place is the blood on the texture looks thrown on and the rock texture looks fake.
Niten- best concept here. your dreams must be awesome.
daphone- goood overall, but lacking in the textures. really like the teeth, but them and the entire texture could have been done better.
perversonality- if you had more time, you could have won. the only thing i don't like is the way the skull is textured.
Big Toe- very good idea, the face is the models bigest triumph. but the legs look weird, there are some major seams on the arms, and the hair is almost invisable.

all of you mentioned almost tied for third. it was a very tough decision and that should be noted.

insect

Good work everyone! Lots of great models, lots of cool concepts. Hard to pick.

Neosorcerer (28)

Model (9) - I can only nit-pick on the fact that the leave-like-thingys don't blend in at the bases with the rest of the body, and it shows in some of the views.
Textures (9) - Perfect... If it wasn't for the fact that the leave-like-thingys don't blend in with the rest of the body, this time in terms of texture.
Idea/Concept (10) - A wildly imaginative, pleasing to the eye AND well designed concept: I can imagine how it would move, attack, eat, what kind of areas it would stay at, etc. Proves that monsters don't have to be covered in blood and have large teeth and claws.

Big Toe (26)

Model (8) - You could've saved alot of polies in the face area: 1. the cheek really doesn't need that many polies, especially the 3 edgeloops at the bottom of the cheek - you could've easily gotten away with 2; 2. The texture around the eyes is very dark, meaning you don't see much geometry variation in that "dark zone"; 3. The nose looks quite simple in the render, but seems to have an extremely complex structure in the wireframe shot. Hands could've used some more polies and you have some very close to each other, but not welded vertices along the centerline (above ******, at the top of the butt-crack and on his chest).
Textures (9) - Interesting patterns, nice base colors, but the details need more work: 1. It's unclear, what kind of skin the monster has: the hands and torso suggest an elephant-skin like texture, but it's not seen on the dark spots, which look almost like stickers on top of the skin and don't blend into the whole. 2. the hands don't show any modeling (in terms of texture), where did all the tendons and veins go? 3. the marks on his upper lip don't remind skin creases, they are too regular in terms of length, shape, intensity and angle to appear organic (at first I thought they might have been left-over wireframe marks).
Idea/Concept (9) - Looks quite imaginative and original, but the design/anatomy doesn't look plausible: 1. The pattern idea seems to come from camouflage markings on various animals (take tiger, for instance), most of which have a lighter belly; the question is - why make the back same color as the belly? And why put a dark contrasting patch of pattern in the center of the belly and back? That doesn't look good, neither in terms of aesthetics, nor logic; 2. The legs are an original choice, but they don't look like they belong in the design - there are no other pointy elements in the rest of the creature and, unlike the rest of the creature, it has no anatomical basis - if the creature is that heavy, the spikes would've been massive and have a distinct texture from the rest of the leg (check this concept: http://www.wildpixels.com/cgi-bin/image.pl?http://www.wildpixels.com/brasshorse/images/chroma/plaguewalker_01.jpg).

Niten (22)

Model (7) - Looks OK, but you could've saved alot of polies: 1. on the not visible tongue part that's inside the mouth. 2. the "hind legs". 3. the part between the backrest and the seat.
Textures (6) - 1. texture stretching on the backrest. 2. everything is way to bumpy and the specular is too high - one can't say what material which part is made of, everything looks like lead.
Idea/Concept (9) - Now THAT's something I haven't seen. Would fit a fun surreal game perfectly. But: the teeth look flat and the tongue looks too rigid.

Good luck for the next challenge!

First Place: Neosorcerer
Model - (8/10) Very Good modelling. There are no visible edge and the mesh sems to be very smooth. Using alpha for wings allow you to save lot of polygons.

Textures - (10/10) Superb texture work. Excellent use of the textures space too....mirrorig UVs was a nice trick to save a lot of space.

Idea/Concept - (7/10) The idea was very original and artistically effective. I like the style...reminds me Panzer Dragoon. But the monster himself is not so scary after all...

Total : 25

Second Place: Ilkejav mk5
Model- (9/10) Excellent modelling, very detailed. Sems that you made no compromise with the polygons limit.

Textures - (7/10) Good use of the textures space...again, miroring UVs was a nice choice. I though you could make it better....your monster-fish deserved more texture detail. A shining reflection maps or some specular maps may help you making your fish more "fishy" ^_^

Idea/Concept - (7/10) Good concept, very effective. But there are dozen of fish like that in anime, cartoon, movies ecc.

Total: 23

Third Place Dark Maggot
Model- (6/10) Nice modelling, but there' s a great waste of polygons in many non-key areas and other areas that probably needed more detail (like mouth, eyes ecc.) Nice line after all.

Textures - (7/10) I like the colors you used, black/white/red...i like the contrast. Textures space was used poperly.

Concept - (9/10) It's soo cool, I like it a lot. Very original, very japanese as always ^_^

Model (8)
The flow of the edges is a little rough, but when you all you have to work with is 1000 tris you have to do what you have to do. The long neck seems to be the focal point for me, but at the same time, it needs the most work. A few more edges would help with the deformation in your animation. Another part that caught my eye, was the wings, but the shoulder area like the neck could have used more edges. The animations were good to see, but they also hurt you by showing areas not made for animation, but for looking at.
Textures (7)
The textures were your weakest part. Yes, it looks nice but it seemed so toned down. Everything was too light for me. I would have liked to see some darker colors, more variation in the wings. Also the wings could have used more holes, or just bigger holes. A few veins would be nice to see too.
Idea/Concept (9)
You idea was great, you are the only person to go the way you did. That helped stand your monster out from the rest. But, it seems like you could have done more with it.

second place
Nyphe: 21

Model (8)
I liked the overall look of your model. It reminded me of a main character that you would see in a game, since low poly models are meant to be in games, this was a good thing. The hands seem abit blocky, but I feel your pain on that one. The choice of going with the oversized hands and feet was a good one. It brought the whole model together.
Textures (6)
You lost a lot of points here because your textures didn’t seem thought out enough. Like you just tossed down some burn marks where ever a seem was doing to be. Although the color scheme works, I wish you had done more with it.
Idea/Concept (8)
The idea is a good one. If I were you, I would go back to this model and finish him up. Add a few more poly’s here and there to round him out. Go back into the texture and add more detail. This can be a great piece for your portfolio.

third place
Evil-98: 20

Model (7)
The model was done well, very simple, very straight to the point. Your poly flow is good, but you may want to add a few more loops to the shoulders in the future. This will help with the deformation problem your having right now. Having to work with 1000 tris is not easy, but you were able to get the point of your model across without losing any major detail. Last but not least, he/it needs at least one more edge loop in the knee area so you can bring him over to the animation challenges.
Textures (6)
The textures where like the model, very simple. But textures shouldn’t be. In a low poly model, your textures are the only way to get that detail across that the model could not. You did the dark colors at the seem routine. When you have time, go back and add more detail to him. Some cuts, cracks something. Another thing, it seemed like you put more thought into the bag than you did the monster. He is the main focus, he should have got the most thought.
Idea/Concept (7)
The idea was cool. Not many people went with the one eyed giant that carries a school bag. All that’s missing is what goes in it.

1st place : Neosorcerer
Model: 8/10 - very good and clean geometry
Texture: 10/10 - i realy like your texturing, is smooth and gloss enougth, and good color choice
Idea/concept: 8/10 - nice as well, looking like resident evil plants but cool anyways, great!

2nd place: Ninten
Model: 8/10 - nice modeling and nice polygons use, the chair doesn't look like a 1000 polys
Textures: 9/10 - nice and well detailed, but could be better in terms of volume and blood
Idea/Concept: 8/10: Nice idea, but a bit cartoon-like, good creativity and weird nightmares for u!

3rd place: Big Toe
Model: 7/10 - i love his face, but feet and torso/legs details are missing
Texture: 8/10 - realy nice one, but it is a bit misplaced around the eyes and i missed volume and contrast, your texture show only spots and color.
Idea/Conceaapt: 7/10 - its cool but nonsense, looking like an unedad but looks to be gentle...strange stuff but cool :)

Good entries(if a 4th place existed):
Mr. T - Nice modeling and creapy creature, nice work!
Thorgrim - good modeling, i just dont like the texture aspects, it is hard and one color like....
nyphe - i like the modeling but the texture is not well detailed as it should be
Cleto - good but childlish, cool for a cartoon like movie, nice textures!
Orochi - nice idea but modeling is not well done, but i like the texture and concept a lot! nice!

1st place: neosorcerer with 29 points
Model (10/10): The geometry is neat and clean and the use of polygons is balanced throughout the model. Good job.
Texture (10/10): Again, space is used up well here, the colors make sense. I can't think of anything you could have done to make it better.
Idea/Concept (9/10): It's a good concept that would fit well in a console RPG well. My only (small) crit is that it looks almost TOO weird to be conceivable. But that's it, and it's really not a big deal. If I could give half-points, you'd get a 9.5. Everything works really well here.

2nd place: evil-98 with 27 points
Model (10/10): Same as neosorcerer. Everything's neat, clean, and you have balanced polygon use. It looks really great, both on wires and in the scene.
Textures (9/10): There's good use of shadows and highlights on your model. My only crit is that on the body it's kind of dark and there isn't much contrast other than the red markings. But those are tiny crits and the texture still looks great.
Idea/Concept (8/10): This is a good concept, but I'm docking you two points because it looks humanesque. The only thing separating this from a human monster is the eye. Other than that, your style is impressive.

3rd place: BiG ToE-3DT with 24 points
Model: (7/10): Generally, the model is clean and uses polys where they should be used. However, the balance here is off. There are a ton of polies used up in the hair and face, but there aren't ANY for the feet. It's just a single vertex. It looks like you started out ambitiously and then realized how many you were using and decided that you couldn't fix the feet.
Texture (8/10): The texture's very cool. There's a lot of variation, shadows, and highlights throughout and it works on your model quite well. However, the brown areas are flat and could use more distinction.
Idea/Concept (8/10): Again, good concept. The style is unique, but it's humanesque, so I've gotta dock another two points.

Honorable Mention to Ilkejav mk5. Your model is really impressive.

Model : 9 very good model, although it lacks a bit of personality, the shape is very original and well defined.
Textures : 7 textures were colorful and very lively, but could use a bit more "texture". By that I mean more diversity in the feel of the skin.
Idea/Concept : 7 the concept was very very original but it didn't work for me. I have to admit though that it's very unique and that's worth something.

Model : 8 model is very well done. Good use of polygons. the shape look just right.
Textures : 8 the textures are diversified and well defined. A bit too much gloss though.
Idea/Concept : 7 the concept lacks a bit of personality but the monster does look scary.

third place
Members Name: CleTo

Model : 7 some of the modeling could use a bit more research. For example, the hoofs just don,t look right...
Textures : 7 again, the texture could use a bit more variation. Evn though it's supposed to be cartoonish, the skin feels a bit dull.
Idea/Concept : 8 the concept is great. very funny and attaching character.

CONGRATULATIONS!

1st - Ilkejav mk5
Model - 10
Nice mesh organization and distribution.

Texture - 8
Well painted, but a little blurry. Could use more definition and explore reflections... more scale wetness. (dont know if this word exists)

Concept/Idea - 7
Good representation but too common, could dare a little more.

2nd - Mr. T

Geometry could have been better distributed.

Texture - 9
Nice! well painted and good use of bumps and reflections.

Concept/idea - 8
Very disgusting and scary blob of meat. Nice!

3rd - BiG ToE-3DT

Model - 8
The super point legs didnt go well with the overall.

Texture - 7
The symmetry is too obvious, kind of too forced, big distraction.

Concept/Idea - 8
Very nice mood and personality, but as i said, the super point legs didnt go well.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Total - 23

==============//==\\================

Honorable mention - nice work!

evil-98 - nice concept! geometry could be better distributed. texture could have more contrast, not only pure flat stone.

Niten - nice texture, a little too much bump, but nicely painted, geometry dynamic could be explored. concept is a litlle obvious, classic haunted house eating object monster.

Neosorcerer - Very nice texture! not really monstruous (it doesnt have to be scary, but it's cute ;P )... this kind of alpha effect looses too much when flatened from the side view.. and in your model it would mean everything.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, that's it! nice works. congratulations everyone. :smug: spend good time here... waiting for more! see ya.
