Sitni Sati the makers of Afterburn have announced the developement of FumeFX which is a new fluid dynamics plugin for 3ds max. And as far as I know its the first of its kind.

It looks quite promising. I hope its released soon. You can watch video and get more information at:

I know there's little crowd here but that does not mean that no one looks here.

Dont. Please dont show me such wonderful dreams. Because if they dont come true I would be very disappointed.

Let me say this about that…
Sitni-Sati got on my bad side when I had trouble installing their trial version of dreamscape a long time ago. I didn't find it very easy to use, and I hear their customer service isn't the best. However, the image of the burning ring really caught my eye and maybe the company's changed.

It may be worth a shot.

Regarding integration into Max10, I'm starting to get kind of angry at Autodesk/Discreet for doing the plug-in bundling business. It's getting really annoying.

Start Ranting Here…

Economically speaking, it's very nice having a plug-in style architecture because it lets people pick and choose what they want integrated into their software. If I want HairFX, I buy Shave-and-a-Haircut. If I want particulates, I buy AfterBurn. When Discreet starts bundling these things into their software, it takes a little more of the consumer's freedom. If I want something revolutionary (like pelt-mapping), I now have to pay through the nose for things I don't want (like, say, HairFX). I have enjoyed all of the bundled software to date. It's just that this trend would turn sour really quickly if they included something I really didn't care for.

Moreover, it's a tacky practice that says "We're not creative and insightful enough to come up with our own solutions, so we're going to buy someone else's". While I'm all for augmenting the software with new and amazing stuff like FumeFX, PolyBoost, OrionFlame, or PolySpeed, I don't want to see it start replacing genuine upgrades. Take HairFX for instance. In Max8 it was introduced without much in the way of integration. Only in a whole new version does Discreet do deep integration (like viewport feedback). I believe that should have been there from day one.

Take a look at Vue6Infinite's upgrade list from E-on Software. It's several pages long and includes a lot of really amazing upgrades to the Vue line. While it may be that many of these features play "catch-up" to bigger packages, I believe it’s a very strong competitor in its price range. The program underwent a veritable revolution. When I stepped back from 3dsMax's upgrade page, I asked myself "Is this a revolution for 3dsM?" The answer was a tentative "no". I’ll reserve full judgment until I try the upgrade for myself.

End Rant

Had to get that off my chest. I still love you Discreet, and that’s why I do this.
Nice post Shikav!

Well nice post dude. You covered up some topics I wanted to speak about. Like the bundling thing. Even if they bundle things I have no problem but would someone please tell me why doesnt Autodesk which got so many employs build their own stuff. Like why are they integrating Hairfx from someone outside the company when they can build it on their own.

Well, Nice post Guy. Totally agree on that with you. But many people are saying that the new max upgrade is worted, Because they bring a 64bit version on the market.
Well, what I think if you compare Vue6 new features to 3dsm new features, I think the same with you Guy.. But I not gonna discuss this anymore. :D

Glu3d, Realflow and Frantic Films software

Glu3d looks not in development any more because no reply from the developer and no updates too.

You all know about realflow.

I am tracking Frantic films software from last 2 years and still in development phase and not available for public

I think its, pretty bad that there arent max or a pugin doesnt have a liquid particle system. Liquids are one of the most important things.

Those renders in Fume FX look amazing! Would all that be particle work? In which case, probably very processor/render intensive... and when using Vray, impossible, haha...
