I havent posted anything from my side yet but this is my very first completed attempt into the 3D world...

I'm not sure if it's good or not but I know I will find out after posting it here and get some clues how to improve my skills. coz I see also lot of you talk about charecter wiring which I am not aware of...all I do now is use a built in charecter from poser ...which was my first step. and I am looking forward to build my own thing my own clothing and weapons and stuff.

I orderd 3DS max and Maya 7...still waiting for the shipment.

I have seen lot of work here and none seem to mention which software are they using. I really wanted to know which programes are you running guys.

anyways I'm using on the below 1st attempt ( The birth of Rogue Trooper ) Poser 6 and AdobeCS+ some brushes from DA.

no, it isnt bad dude :)
folks just dont post very fast here...

the model looks really nice. i think he could do with a bit better lighting and shaders.
the lightning effect is a bit to much, kinda hard to focus on the model.
but i like it. has power to it :D

thats kinda motivating to me thanks.

as I said, I'm all new to 3D work....I try to read more tuts as much as I can...I felt so down to join due to the amazing work I see around...

I personally loved the clay design from some members I see like the last elf and others...then being transfered and textured...

I dont know how long will it take me to at least understand the concept or the main idea of 3D...I am an artist on paper...but new to 3D or using PC for art.

The worst mistake you can do when starting on this is to compare yourself with others. Of course there are astounding models here but keep in mind theres a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way behind those models. The guys and gals that post those incredible models have been working for years in 3d, and there is no shortcut. The only way is practice practice practice. The more you do, the more you will get it.

For now, you must concentrate in getting familiarized with the language of 3d. Concepts such as edge loops, topology, anatomy (in characters), and such will need to be imbued in your mind before you try to do complex stuff. Dont rush yourself and try to concentrate in blocking masses at first, then try to go farther by adding details, materials etc. Its a long way, but if those amazing people did it, newbies like you and me can do it as well with perseverance.

I never thought of comparing my self to them, but I get motivated by seeing them, which gives me the push to work harder and read more.

and I am very pleased of your reply and thats what I need to hear.

thank you Hellhammer I apreciated bro.

i think it looks realy good for being a poser image. ushaly things made with poser tend to look realy bleak and lifeless, somthing your image does not.

people here are realy talented (exept me :p) witch makes this a great place to hang around if you want to lern and become better.

poser is a nice toy and all, but the fun will start when max and maya arive. i promis you.

Thought about a skin shader. That purple coloring doesn`t seem really realistic. Just a thought.

Slicer, I will get them soon ;)

War_M, how where and what can I do with skin shader...coz honestly all I did is change the color of the skin and give it some sort of a shiney thing....
