Thanks for the compliments guys. You're right about the 3-pin connector, but you know when you're in a hurry you tend to hyperfocus. Similar to the way I'm hyperfocusing on Rorschach's cast iron material. That looks great.

This model went a lot faster than the 9500, possibly because little problems like creating the fan are so simple after the first one. It went so fast, in fact, that I thought I was done and filled the remaining time with things like turning screws different directions (though no one can really see that kind of detail when you save your jpg at 57 quality and still get a file size of 99.99k). Well the time limit was up, and as I started checking materials I realized I didn't even model the power connector this time. Oh well.

Software: 3DS Max
Modeling: 90 minutes
Texturing: 15 minutes
Rendering: about 8 minutes per view

Stunning work guys, really! I'm really looking forward to a new SMC now, i don't know what everone else thinks but i'd like for the next SMC to at least go back to a 1 week challange. I'm looking forward to modelling something totally different too. And i seriously hope we continue to have this level of creativity, quality and entries, it's wonderful to see. you're all making my models look pityful lol.

Kind Regards

I'm looking forward to modelling something totally different too.

Indeed, something organic would be nice... like modelling a small animal, funny creature or stuff like that. ;P

At the same moment than the 3dscool. I just change my bad hdd yesterday and now I have to create my all new website because I lose all my SQL database. All those problem's make me crazy...
I hope I will participate the next speed modeling. :p

I'll have to make something for a competition sometime here, but I'm afraid, I'm not too fast a modeller, but if I learnt to not render, and to just carry on building, and finish it, then render, I'd be much better off!!!

But I'll have a go on the next one if I can :)

Some great entries here I tell you. I've looked through the whole lot, and they amazed me with some of the photorealistic renders, and concepts.

Hey Kage, don't worry about winning (I'm not). Just see it as practice. There are tons of great enteries here but don't let it discourage you. Use it for motivation! You may even get helpfull feedback.

Here's a "standard" fan + heatsink that I threw together in about fifty minutes, it's too hot in here to sit in front of the computer but I just had to submit something. :D

Can anyone tell me the best way to compress my project. I keep getting the message saying that my file is too large, but if I cut it anymore it will look really bad. I am using photoshop, with jpeg format.

If you are using photoshop u should use the option "save for web"

hemm.....don't want to pick up on the winners BUT... are you maybe sayng that the tornado wires are more esplicative than one of the disqualified guys? whats the intent of the non-smoothed wires? if they are non smoothed but also not visible they are still useless,i've sacrificed many renders to show you a better wire,as it's been asked in the first contest where the wires should be visible (piggy bank if i'm not wrong).tornado hope you don't offend, your entry surely deserve a win but founding me in the dq list just for a fan that SEEMS not smoothed make me really sad.
