The rep points are gone. Why did the mods remove them? It was such a cool feature of the forums...

somebody didn't like the idea.

The thing was most people's points weren't going anywhere. Another thing was that some people just focused on the points instead of the art.

With no points everyone is even. But maybe you can talk the guys at the top to bring them back.

Well, reputation points were useful because some people focused more on helping others on the offchance of getting a rep bonus. This might not be the most noble of things, but it got us helping eachother, didn't it?
Also, you knew who's a black sheep because they had negative rep. Behaviour was more under control, cause some of us actually don't like having little or negative rep.
It gave the Threedy forums an iconic RPG feeling to it, growing your "user".

Though I liked the system there was 1 thing that I disliked. That is many people dont know about this system or many of them dont want to give you points. Like i must have helped many but not each one of them gave me a point so i still got very less pts. So I think that it doesnt not matter whether it is there or not cause maore than half of the population here dont even know about it.

yeah, the only way for it to work right, is to make sure everyoe knows it's there and how to use it.

But the least they could do was to make a Poll asking us about the Rep system. Just taking it away will displease those of us who KNOW about Rep points and who CARE about Rep points and their respective effects on the Threedy member community. It feels emptier, now.

I'll talk to the boys. Better yet, you can too. Send MonteCristo and Used and Tom a PM stating how you feel about the points.

add Andy K to that list.

I think the rep system is a great idea but it is flawed and to ensure that it works smoothly requires

1, Everyone to use it fairly, responsibly and equally which will never happen despite us asking people to participate

2,the moderators to filter every single reputation point removing those either positive or negative) that are given without reason, those we think were unfairly given or those just handed back and forth between a small group of friends. This can take many hours and sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day

We all felt that our precious time could be better spent making the forums a better place in a more positive way so please keep your eyes open for new stuff.

Please don't mourn the loss of reputation points, if you want to help someone then do, if you want help then ask and read what people say. If you doubt someones advice you can always ask someone else.

I'd rather the forums were full of people willing to help because they can not because they gain an extra rep point or two.

It's people that make forums great not a few green blobs

Well, Andy_k has made some strong points. I have to agree.

What the mods would have to do in order to keep the Rep points fair is an asiduous amount of maintenance. I'd also rather have you guys doing new stuff, then.

So be it. :)
You have my best wishes with you, on this one, 3DT.

I've been really busy with work - still am so I haven't had a chance to get involved with the speed challenges but I've been doing stuff in the background and generally keeping an eye on things whilst the others keep you lot in order

Because we need it :D

I always thought the rep points were harder to use because the icon doesnt really attract attention. I saw another forum with a simple + or - sign under the avatar and i figure that would be way more user intuitive. I was kinda enjoying getting my rep added every so often :op
