Hi im new here,
iam 23 years old and in a apprentice to a media designer but my real job is low poly modelling and texturing @ my jobplace, the reson for this in germany there are no way to lern 3d artist as an job...
...and this is my first contest ^^.
My supmission was to me to create a possible d3 realtime char under 5000 polys.
The detail information are on the rendering.
and here he is :-) hope you like it.

That's very,very nice!
Wow.. nice work mate! :D Texture work is awsome, and I also love the visual style of the character, great concept. The hood on the character is a very nice touch too - really does give it that assasin/theif look about it. Good luck with contest!
BTW any chance of seeing a wireframe or a clay render of the model?

Aw man, I would sure love to play with that assasin in my Diablo III. You really got me impressed!
The only way i would play another MMO is if it was diablo 3. That would be so badass, and your assassin is definitely cool, but arent 2048 x 2048 maps a bit high? Even for a non MMO game, it still seems like a lot. Either way, its pimptastic

Exelent job indeed, cool !
yes 2048x2048 is to high res. but sometimes it is better to paint the textures in higher resolution because if you scale it down the details dont disappear.
in fact you can paint more details on it and the texture looks better like a created 1024x1024 for example.
another reason is, for renderings, it is better create a high res texture.
the con is, you need more time to create the texture. performance and so on...
my pc is so slow that i have to outsource some layers in other psd files and later i pack all in one together.

thats is soo hot..

year but not without high paying curses ^^, you dont have the choice to lern it on a way like a normal job. you have to pay for it like the gamesacadamy and many of this "teachers" have low skills in analogy to the real business.
i took the way to lern it as an apprenticeship to a media designer and i get money 3 years and dont pay money and i think you get a lot of more skills if you working on real projects. because you are in the production pipeline with milestones and so on...

Right. Like in many other "unnormal" jobs. Ever tried become eq. commercial pilot?
Unlike that, 3D is absolutely affordable. And its no problem to work at the same time. (I do know by myself that Germany sucks at points of supporting job learners.)
and many of this "teachers" have low skills in analogy to the real business.
No thats simply not true. They have solely professional private lecturers, which work in that business for many years.
and i think you get a lot of more skills if you working on real projects. because you are in the production pipeline with milestones and so on...You have no idea how SAE works.
But hey ... do what you want. But don't blow about there are no professional ways to learn it.
