Hi
I'm having a problem with 3DSMax and it's meshsmooth function.

I've got a bonnet. It has been chamfered around the edges (it's a 90 degree corner), copied across using -symmetry- modifier and -meshsmooth-ed.

The chamfer at the meets in the middle dips down. It's like it is ignoring the chamfer and just merging a load of vertices together.

I've tried everything, changing threshold, etc. Still does it.

The standard edge:

tone down the threshold on the symmetry, and make sure you dont have any wondering verts for the mesh smooth to round on.

Tried the threshold, it either doesn't 'weld' together or just overwelds.
Everything is fine, no extra vertices either. I've had this a few times in the past and there was nothing that would fix it!

Definitely looks like a threshold issue to me. Did you try a threshold of 0 or something like .001? Or maybe try scaling the geometry up and trying again.

I don't think it's threshold, but I don't really have a standard size will my models, so I may try scaling up. I once imported a wheel into one of my car models, and the car could actually sit in the wheel nut hole because it was so out of scale!
