Hi!
I am trying to make a FPS. The guy who is doing the programming suggested using the unreal engine. Thats all right but I'd have to use unrealEd in that case, but I don't know where can I download the software.
UnrealED comes with the full copy of Unreal, at least it did with the first one (not sure if you want to use the engine from Unreal, Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2003 or Unreal II)
A word of advice (I only worked with the first versionīs editor, but I suppose that the next versions work the same way): in UnreaED you donīt create stuff, you remove stuff. This means that you donīt start with a lot of empty space and create volumes and surfaces, instead you start with a bunch of "full" space and you have to remove chunks of stuff to create rooms and areas and only then you start adding volumes. I kinda of hated it, I hope they changed it.....

Unreal engine = mucho powerfull, and yes, you still get it with UT2k3.
Tried the first one and Kit's right 'bout the subtraction thing. Makes it easier though the interface is pretty difficult.

Another thing. Kit! Is there any other alternate software for level designing if using the unreal engine? I mean there is a software called 3D Game Studio, for the quake engine
Iīm really not sure, itīs been a long time since I left the Unreal modding community (bent over to quake 3 actually).... however my guess is that there isnīt. But I donīt think that UnrealED is gonna give you a lot of trouble, itīs just kinda of hard to model levels "inside out", but once you get the hang of it, I think Unreal has a pretty powerful engine!
Slight suggestion: if you are really serious about making your own FPS and you have a powerfull coding backbone (this is essential anyway IMHO) you should consider cheking out Crystal Space, a completly free and completly open source 3d engine.
