depending on your version, you're propably having the 'toonshading' option marked on, or you've used brazil toonshader materials.

no the material is the Brazil Basic Mtl and is the toonshading button in the luma server rollout as Toon ?

I think it might be a lighting problem. What kind of setup are using?

You're not using any lights? Do you have Brazil skylight turned on? If so, it may be too bright and is flattening the scene. Or, if it is just using max default lights, they usually produce pretty flat lighting.

Try adding at least 1 light to your scene. GI is just a little help for lighting, not a complete solution.

The reason your car looks flat is because with the skylight, the exact same amount of light is coming from every single angle, so nearly all of your surface has the same amount of light hitting it... You need more directional light to actually be able to see shading..

I think the problem here is the red mtl and the lack of a specular light.
It seems as if
a)The self illumination for the red mtl is turned up.
b) There are no reflections .
c) you either have no specularity on the mtl, or you have only the area light turned on.
Check those then please give us some more info to help with.:)
