View Full Version : Male character
12-10-2006, 01:16 AM
this is my another attempt at modeling a male body (remember Omegus (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?t=34285) ;P) I hope I`ve improved my skills:)
12-10-2006, 01:27 AM
He's looking good!
The only crit i have is that i think the nipples look slightly too on the side...
You're the only good reference for anatomy ;P
12-10-2006, 09:52 AM
thx for you replie. there`s still much to improve. I`m considering puting this modeel later to z-brush for some extra detail.(veins etc.)
13-10-2006, 02:03 AM
You can also use displacement painting with SILO 2
13-10-2006, 09:53 AM
yeah I could but i don`t know silo. and i`d like to learn z-brush.

Hello friend take a look to this link reference:
Do you see the muscles fibers try modeling the loops in those directions, let see what happen
13-10-2006, 08:19 PM
well i think the loops are quite in a good way. but if you`d precise which muscles you exactly have in mind it would be much better ;) what i don`t like and what`ll be changed is the abdominal muscles. I think they`re too straight. thx for your replies and give me some more.:)
13-10-2006, 10:16 PM
hey looks good, deffinetly put the edges out allitle inbetween the abs, get a nice smooth transition going...what are you aiming for with the model?
22-10-2006, 11:29 PM
here`s a small update. I havent got much time to work on it unfortunately:(
23-10-2006, 03:47 AM
Very nice modelling :)
23-10-2006, 10:39 AM
thx Bob Marley I`m trying to do my best;)
23-10-2006, 10:56 AM
Damn! what software are you using? And how many polys does this guy have?
23-10-2006, 12:20 PM
Well very well Sculpting :)
23-10-2006, 04:53 PM
I`m using 3dsmax only. I dont know how many poly does it have but i think around 100 000(i know too much;))
23-10-2006, 06:02 PM
hey matti....its reaaly coming up nice....no major C&Cs.....one thing IMO is that the place between clavicle (collar bone) and Latisbimus Dorsi (above chest) might needs some tweeking of vertex....as from the chest to the clavicle, its looking a bit
flat now...just below the clavicles, it should go in just a bit to give a more natural feeling between the two sections...and about the nipples, as they can go a bit towards inside, as per andrew loomis drawings on the book Figure Drwaings, the navle, the nipple, and end of the clavicle bone towards the soulder lies at the same straight line....so if u draw 2 different slanted straight line starting from the navel towards the soulders, they should be a perfect 'V'...oterwise, its really great
05-11-2006, 11:22 PM
hey thx for your coments dhursvm, they`re really helpfull.
anther small update
06-11-2006, 02:45 AM
legs look too short, out of proportion. Kind of reminds me of hank hills father.
06-11-2006, 10:25 AM
heh you`re right i`v noticed this too;)
i rescalled it
07-11-2006, 10:56 PM
hmm no comments. is it so good or that bad?;)
i connected the hand withe the body(it still needs some tweak though)
And his boots:
08-11-2006, 12:41 AM
I think the fingers look a bit short for his hand, but about the shoes man they look real nice.
08-11-2006, 12:54 AM
well they cant be too short they were made from reference;) thx for your replie
08-11-2006, 01:38 AM
the legs seem a bit short too me, but maybe its jsut me since u used reference, the body muscles and the shoes look great though
12-11-2006, 04:07 PM
15-11-2006, 01:05 AM
the anatomy is very good!
i dont find no problem in the character!
i want new ups! :haha:
15-11-2006, 06:19 PM
really nice, i like it alot
15-11-2006, 06:21 PM
i'm not sure on the trousers though, they are letting the rest of this piece down! sorry
15-11-2006, 08:04 PM
kito-thx anatome needs some more work
samuelspode-thx yeha trouser are still in refining
17-11-2006, 03:34 PM
another minor update
17-11-2006, 09:57 PM
nice work man. i really like how he looks, very convincing.
the third set of abs look like extruded boxes, kind of a shame, looking at the rest of the detail on this character
i have a request though. im trying to make pants on my latest project, but i can get those creases/wrinkels/folds to look right. would you mind posting a wireframe close-up of those pants?
18-11-2006, 12:53 AM
oh my god, this model is fantastic. Youve really done a fine job on the detailing. Can't wait to see it textured.
18-11-2006, 06:54 PM
Tank[NL]- thx. yeah you`re right about the abdominals I`ve changed them.
Darkegg- thx man. Your messenger is really good too:)
workin a bit on the back. it still needs some imporves
18-11-2006, 07:25 PM
The hand is a bit off proportion, the length of the radius and humerus should just be about the same. Try to bend you hand and see the proportion, hey, you yourself is a good reference not just pictures.
And to model this high poly model in 3Ds Max, I'm speechless, that must have consumed you so much time. Nice effort though but I would go straight to Zbrush once I got the general shape down. Really nice nonetheless!
19-11-2006, 01:19 AM
thx Ranidize I`ve chnged the size of the hands. But theres still a lot to do with the hands. Well i could do it in zb-brush but it would be too easy i want be good at modeling in max.
I`m not sure about the proportions between legs and the torso. What do you think?
19-11-2006, 03:29 PM
Here are the wires:
I also changed the body a bit still working on the hands
19-11-2006, 05:03 PM
Could pose a close shot of the hand? The forearm and its wire too.
EDIT: Probably different angle from what's shown above.
22-11-2006, 05:00 PM
That looks great man,but the hands are a bit weird indeed...But great model you have there!;)
22-11-2006, 09:23 PM
thx for your replies. I`m still working on the hands, but first i`ll improve the body
22-11-2006, 09:26 PM
something still wrong in terms of muscle flow on the arms...like biceps, triceps...and check the proportions also......looking nice otherwise...
22-11-2006, 09:29 PM
yeah hands are all wrong. but what do you mean about the proportions??
22-11-2006, 11:48 PM
to me the bicep is looking long.....i think it should blend a little earlier than the elbow joints...IMO...
23-11-2006, 11:54 AM
Looking really nice!
26-11-2006, 03:37 PM
26-11-2006, 10:17 PM
26-11-2006, 10:23 PM
looking good my man. something doesnt seem quite right tho proportion wise. The legs look to be slightly short compared with the body. Really good modeling though, look forward to seeing him textured.
02-12-2006, 04:51 AM
another small update
02-12-2006, 12:03 PM
Looks awesome... great job with the details and the topology of the body :)
Waiting for the textured version :D
05-12-2006, 06:35 PM
thx man. I`m afraid of textures and lightning the model:) I just dont know how to do it:]
19-12-2006, 07:09 PM
hey after a long braeak i`m back to finish this model
some tewaks on the body
19-12-2006, 07:32 PM
great model but one suggestion,
Always make the model in "palm facing down" pose(same as in titanic :P),
it helps in making the rig and skin.
28-12-2006, 05:06 AM
19-01-2007, 09:07 PM
hey, I`ve done some work on the textures
19-01-2007, 11:34 PM
Great texturing, man, and the model looks lovely too.But i have to say the hands look a bit weird and flat, and the same goes for the forearms. But still it's great!Keep it up!
