Hi,

i got a problem with the exporting of obj files because when i export it another user who has 3ds max can't see the outer polys only the inner polys, maybe the normals are flipped? I don't know


Please help me.

I have never had any problems with OBJ between the two softwares..maybe it's the import settings in Max.. but i'm not sure.
have you tried exporting from Cinema as .FBX format to see if this works ok ??

I exported it as a 3ds file and a FBX file and there aren't any errors, can't understand it.

sorry i can't really help you out more.. as far as i know there are no options to flip normals or anything when exporting .OBJ from Cinema so it must be an import feature from Max.. but like i said before i have exported loads of obj from C4D and imported into Max no problem..
I think FBX is probably a better way to go though for you if possible..

Ah and i got one more problem, it's when i open c4d it opens everytime an old scene and i have to close the scene how can i do that at the start there is an empty viewport?

what could it be?

sounds like you saved the layout whilst having an old scene open...close all scenes. then in the top tool bar go to window > layout > save as start up layout.
this will tell C4D to start each time with this layout so you should be fine then.

there is no need to direct this to maxon , you should go to adobe their having the problem i have exported almost to anyprogram using cinema4d , to maya , xsi and you name it , but 3dsmax cant import good from allot of softwares it imports but it has all kinda of errors , sometime there are polygon holes sometimes it screws up the hypernurbs and all kinda of , so its not maxon fault in maya and xsi it works fine with or without fbx its adobe 3dsmax who cant import formats good

Another question, i want to unwrap something and am looking for something like Verts Connection to see which verts should be together like in max other thing, is it possible to weld the verts together which i want? like i want to weld vert 30 to vert 30...



Ok i found it, first there is the structure manager to show the vert numbers etc. then to weld the verts in uv editor the snap tool :)
