Hey Sarn, I just got an acoustic guitar about 2 weeks ago and have slowly started teaching myself but do u think u could answer a few quick questions for me real quick?
1)When I hold down a fret, I have to hold it really hard because if I just hold it normal it just makes a pluck, is this normal?
2) Sometimes when I hold down a fret, my string vibrates against the actual metal fret, do you think that means I need new strings? I got it from a friend who didn't play it at all/in a long time, so I'm thinking I just need to like update.
Well thanks for any help.
Well, on an acoustic guitar you generally have to press a lot harder on the strings than on an electric one. You can change this though by getting a lighter gauge string. Gauge is how thick the string is, so thinner strings are easier to press down but i think they have a springier sound to them. I have 13's, which are pretty standard.
Sometimes my hands get tired from certain chord positions too though.
With the second question, what you need to fix is the action. Action is how far the strings are from the neck. I don't know too much about it, but inside the neck there is a metal bar called a truss rod that you can adjust. this will bend the neck in different ways. also humidity and stuff will affect that.
you can probably bring your guitar somewhere and theyll put new strings on it and set it up nicely for you for like 25 bucks or so. wipe down your strings after you play too to make them last longer.

Hey sarN. I live in Chicopee MA myself and am in a band too. We are entering Emergenza this year starting at Fat Cats in Springfield. It is cool to see someone who lives so close on a 3D forum and in the music section too.
Your stuff is pretty good man. I like Chasing the Sun...it has a good feel to it. Like one of your influences...Satch. I'm into John Petrucci myself but I really like Satch....I like other shredders as well....do you listen to any Al DiMeola? If not...check out Elegent Gypsy.
Talk to you later.
Mike
Weird... for me it just seems to be saying Loading, and not actually playing the tracks :s
When I get to hear them though, I'll comment :)
Kage: thats probably cus of myspace.
I know this section hasn't been commented in a while, but it should change! all the guitars modeled i know there are musicians on this site
myucka: thanks man, i love john petrucci too. i have not heard al dimeola but will have to check it out
