waheed nasir
07-12-2006, 06:58 PM
Speed Painting Challenge no. 57. starts now and ends on the 19th of Decemeber. 06. Tuesday.

Topic: Ruins.

u can inco-orporate that in a landscape or just go for a close up of some ruined villa, castel, building etc etc. in my personal opinion, ruins in some landscape with some dramatic sky would give it a real nice mood, but go ahead with what u think would be best to show your stuff. its all upto u...:).

u can start working and posting, u got time till the 19th of dec. voting starts after that.

Imp: only those who take part by submitting their entry/work are allowed to vote, other votes wont be counted.

each person can submit upto 3 artworks and please do remember to mention your final, votable entry.

Rules: http://forums.3dtotal.com/s...ead.php?t=24525

best wishes everyone...:).

Excellent waheed! The topic seems interesting as well as the final rule. The competition will prosper with less spam and more meaningful dialogue.

Can it be other stuff... like vehicles?

Hi @ all.

very cool topic (actually I´m not quite good in landscapes - but on the other hand I should practice them)

@ Cartoonera: very nice picture and very fast! Although the textures (or filter, or brush) of the water and the clouds are looking quite odd.

@ Alletun: Man you know how to paint landscapes. I love this foggy mood. That´s a great picture!

Cartoonera, a bit blurry in some parts, but nice.

Alletun, great atmosphere

Hi, Friends.
I hope everything is alright. Here is my first contribution at this Speed Painting Challenge Nº 57. PhotoShop CS. 45 minutes, with mouse. My ruins are very simple: Ruins of the nature. Three stones indicate one lonely place. At the back one field ploughed indicate human activity, but distant.

Hi everyone!
Here's mine ( all fictional  ):

These are the old remains of the ancient City of the Mountains, shattered by war thousands of years ago, nothing remains of it other than shadows and ruins that tell us the story of a once great and beautifull city. Travelers pass by it sometimes and listen to the story, and wonder at how things went so wrong for this city, just like the traveler we see in the painting...

Edit:here's a link to a better quality image:

At last... I have time off work again to be able to join in!!! Some excellent comps last few weeks/months - As allways high standards throughout.

Gonna get started on my ruins pic tonight, just thought i dleave a few comments while I was here.

Cartoonera: I can see what you were going for, and i like your use of bold colour, I agree with other comments that some work on more detail would help improve it.

Alletun: I like the atmosphere of this piece, and the effect you have created. For me, the tree/bird spoil the image - I can understand why you added them but I feel the image would have been better without them, maybe just a small rock instead. But your use of colour is really good, helps to create a very nice mood.

Ania: I like the style you have used, and the layers of colour work really well. I think you could have done with adding more ruin elements, missing bricks and decay would have been good.

HA-Jassar: I like the idea of your image though I feel more work could be done on the perspective within the piece. Plus i get the feeling the body of the character is twisted. You get a good feeling that the character is looking down on whats left of a great civilisation.

Tnads - i like your use of colour but try in future to create your own brush for creating grass effects. It aint always easy to do good grass, and get the colours right but I think your image wuld be improved greatly by trying this. I know you only took 25 mins to create - so maybe you just did it for quickness, but I feel it spoils the image.

Now its back to the drawing board - Well Wacom tablet...

Gracias.

LOL! :D I paint that window with a reference and I use it just for that I like it! Not about church, mosque or something!lol! Just I had a good expression on it :) so I use it, and with no rage! I just wonna to make a elbowroom and a sense of cold! If you know! :D I like that ugly volum light effect also :dunno:

(And about side note: Iran is just a must to go place in holidays! If you interested to know more please pm me! Just I can't write the entire of page!)

Ps: churches is so enshrine in Iran just like mosques, don’t look at some stupid politician ppl (like something nejad or elsewhere! :D ); Jesus have a august place in Islam as well.
Btw, I wish a good n safe holyday to all of you dudes ;) although we haven’t holidays right now in Iran cause we celebrate start of spring as start of year in Iran called norooz :D   ! :foppish!:

Ps2!: ok, so let me say also that we celebrate longest night of year also that is middle night of winter (tommorow)! It is called “Yalda”! We eat water melon n nuts on it! And having good n fun times! :D until midnight! There is a mythology that dreams will become true in this night!
