while working on my tugboat, I'm also working on a VR presetation of a highway. the problem is, that i need the highway to be exactly at the same height as the grond under it.
and because the VR program and MAX are kinda diffrent when it comes to xyz values, it's almost imposible to do this by hand.
now, the best thing would be if there is a way to add vertexes to the ground model, in the shape of the highway. that way i can be absolutly sure that the two have an equal z value.
so, is it possible to take the highway and tell the grond to get vertexes in the shape of that model? please help!

see, the wheels of the car and the highway are not at the same height.

if it is not an insane amount of verts you could try to snap them to the ground plane. also i don't know if you're system can do it but have you considered just using textures for the highway, obviously that would be on the perfect level with your ground.
there's probably a better way to do this but that's just some ideas off the top of my head.
good luck

no, texturing is not an option, the VR program only suports texturing of objects. so if i could detach the shape of the highway in the ground, i could texture it. and snapping doesn't seem to work neither :(

are you using max to build this geometry?
another thing you could try is to actually model the road into the ground and then you can select those face and then just either copy them off as another object or detach them from the ground.

In Max you could use ShapeMerge to imprint the shape of the highway into the ground mesh, and then you could select the shape area as an element and detach it..

sounds good! lets try it!

try to align the the object to
the zero velue on the z axis
in max
Isnt there a align in the vr program u r using?
maybe its an other problem
Looks like z buffering to me
