Hey guys, figured I'd post my current work. I'm aiming to get him to do a walk cycle by sunday, but it's not looking too good timewise...

So, I'm sure you're wondering exactly what i mean by Hammer Robot, when there's no hammer visible. Well, my plans are to make him a biped, wielding an oversized warhammer in one hand, and with a long cape trailing behind him. Hands will be coming from the bottom of the forearms (no, they aren't cannons) and the legs will basically look like the arms/forearms.
I'm a bit stuck on what to do with his waist/hips. They've gotta be narrow, obviously, but the construction is a bit confusing. Got some time to think about it as I work on the hands. Any suggestions?

nice model, Megaman was the first thing that came to my mind also. i think it's the arms...
for the waist, do what i do, rough in the legs all the way to the feet, don't worry what they look like. then, go back and refine the shape in large sections until you find something that works. it's not an ingenious method, but it works.

Animaleante: Good call on use megaman for references, i never thought of that, despite the fact that the arms look like megaman's arm cannons as of now. I'll post a low poly wire in a little bit.
Defaultalias: Yeah, your method is kind of how I've been doing it so far. I don't have a sketch to work off of, so I'm modeling and designing it as I go from my head. Taking me forever ><
Thanks for your feedback!

And the parts themselves, for the heck of it:

I'll hopefully have made more progress by tonight, so check back soon!

It's taken forever, but here's an update on the robot. I'm not 100% happy with the feet yet, and the legs look too close together. They need some more work. Also, I have yet to model the hands/fingers. I already made one hand, but it's not going to work out. I'll have to remodel them completely.
Any advice/criticism is welcome!

Looks good, nice modeling. I'd have to agree with remodeling the hand and for the feet I'd just lower the tips and drag them a little further from the body to look like human feet.. just my opinion.

Update:
Hammer finished. Fixed feet slightly, though they may not be done yet. Delaying hand modeling for as long as possible....

I think you should thicken up the upper arms and legs. They dont look like they can support the amount of weight that they're holding up.

Small update-
Detailed the head and eyes a bit more.
Bulked up the arms and legs a bit.
Fixed the feet to add more functionality.
I just realized i need to create some separation on the leg to allow for ankle movement.
Still avoiding the hands like the plague. Can't tell you the amount of times I've tried to get some kind of working model.... Hopefully will be finished by this week, so I can texture the whole thing...
