looks really good to me. i really like both the floor texture and the mood that the lighting gives it. my only (small) suggestion would be to have the chain a little more imperfect, not going in a straight line out of the picture, have it curve around a bit.
other than that great job

Very nice there. I got a few suggestions though.
The chain is a bit too small and makes it look as the ring is really big like it just fell off Saurons finger.
The Ring is a bit too relfective....just tone it down a bit.
Finally...the inscriptions are the language of Tengwar spoken and written by the Elves and not spoken in Mordor. U chould try n get the real inscriptions of the language of Mordor. There are two lines of that script.
The first one is in the inside
"One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them"
The other on the outside
"One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness blind them"
I got a picture of them that u can use. I think the first one is on the inside but Im not sure. Dont speak the language of Mordor :P!
Very nice and realictic though :D!

It looks like the writing is too small, and I think you should shrink just the ring some, then it should fit with the chain more. I also think the one in the movie isn't as fat, but I'm not sure. Pretty good anyway though, probably better than I could do right now.

My pickiness is gunna show. The part that kind irks me about it is that you are using an outdoor environment reflection map. The lighting suggests an indoor environment, with perhaps a hole in the roof or something to that effect. It creates an ill-at-ease feeling sub-conciously to the viewer. At least it does to this viewer. Other than that, I think it looks pretty damn good. :)

Lol they say great minds think alike :)
That's the same wood tex I used in my ring image http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4010
(hurray for www.animax.it :D)
How did you do the text? it looks great.
Though I think the reflection on the ring still needs to be turned down quite a bit. Gold is deceptively unreflective (depends partly on how clean it is of course).

Uhm, it's "bind them", not "blind them". And IIRC it's a bit longer than those two lines, haven't read the books for a few years though..
