well here it is
modelling was done in max, with a bit of tweaking in zbrush, the texturing was done in max and photoshop, render was done in vray and did a occlusion pass in metal ray for pst work, has a couple of layers of the same occlusion in different settings for postwork.

Hi Guys,
sorry about the late start on Voting. Voting rules:
1. In this thread put your 1st 2nd and 3rd placed images (then we will add up the 3,2,1 points at the end)
2. Any Forum User with at least 20 posts or more is eligible to Vote, all entrants and moderators can vote regardless but entrants cannot vote for themselves.
3. Voting ends 7 days from the time of this post.
We will count the votes at the end of the week and announce the winner. Thanks to all for taking part.

Two little questions :
A forumer with less than 20 post but who has participate to the challenge is allowed to vote ? Or, for my personnal case, do I have to wait my 20th post which will occurs soon I think with the octopus challenge.
Are we allowed to vote for ourselves ?
ben-3DT
11-01-2007, 02:18 PM
Sorry, if you have entered then you can vote too.
SithLord_Steve
11-01-2007, 05:28 PM
Authentic....It says that "entrants cannont vote for themselves" in the previous post by ben-3DT.
ben-3DT
11-01-2007, 05:33 PM
I would think that voting for yourselves was a recognised no-no! If everyone voted for themselves it wouldnt make any difference to the result would it ;-)
SithLord_Steve
11-01-2007, 05:37 PM
Hey ben-3DT...do we have to give a quick rationale to let you know why we voted the way we did? It might help others in the choosing process...
ben-3DT
11-01-2007, 05:41 PM
No need really, this will just go purely on the most votes wins.

Tough decision all the models were great.
1. artecnl (http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/1879/final2weblp6.jpg) - nice work done with the fur, and composition of the piece.
2. kurious (http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/3533/highlandercow800x600alttb0.jpg) - really like the design and "toony" feel. Cutest cow of the competition.
3. yan (http://img325.imageshack.us/img325/9302/cowfinal800x600vq2.jpg) - Good concept sketch to final model. Important little detail to attention defines where the animal is from and gives it character.
Good luck everyone!

I was browsing the forum and I saw I forgot to vote :D
1 - kuriouz (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=524578&postcount=20) (for me this is the funnyest cow in the competition, verry nice modeled and rendered)
2 - initiative (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=524364&postcount=6) (I like verry much the concept, u really breake the cow down to the most reconizible parts, u made it verry good funny and original)
3 - sly-old-dog (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=524577&postcount=19) (verry cute and funny, nice modeled and pose, I think is exactly what this chalenge is abut)
Ofcorse ther was 21 entryes and if I hardly eliminate 11 I end up with 10 entry that I love
and is really hard to make diferance between them, is only mater of taste but like conept and modeling and rendering are the same ... some are even better then the one I vote ...but I chose what I like most, but to be fair is nice to mentioned some that I don't vote but love the entryes.
artecnl (maybe the perfect cow in the competiton, nice hair and render)
authentic ( I love the render, and verry nice modeling
capitan_popo (for me this and praveen3d are the best modeling and texturing and detailes in the competiton, but for a stylyzed chalenge I just prefer the ones I vote)
praveen3d (like captain_popo this is best modeling and render and details, and that hair I loveeee it, but again I just prefer simple and perfect then complicate in a stylized chalenge :dunno:)
mim (those cows are crazzy :D, nice expresion, and funny aranjament, the render the composition all is original and nice)
GiDeOn3d (nice modeling, I like the crazy hair special when it comes under the cloth :D, like the expresion and colors)
mr_lemon (nice modeling and pose, but I not like the material that look like plastic, it not fit in composition, maybe if u just render it like a plastic toy then it will be better with that material :xx: )
SGrace575 (siple and funny, have expresion and all, but I don't know something is mising to be ther in top 3)
SithLord_Steve (verry nice modeling and details one of the bests, nice pose, and funny expresion how he blow in that bagpipe, but like capitan_popo and praveen3d I just vote for simple but perfect and funny :dunno: I think this is what a stylyzed chalenge ask for)
And ofcorse are many others that made nice entryes but thoos I write above are the ones that are al for me in top 3, but well I must chose just 3 :xx:

Ok here are my votes, I tried to keep the brief in mind which states :
All you have to do is create a 3d render of this creature in a stylized/abstact/cartoon style whilst keeping your creature instantly recongnizable
Funny and humourous entries which break the animal down to its most recognizable components, enphasize these in whichever ways you think best and render your stylized/abstact/cartoon masterpiece.
