Okay...there hasn't been any movement in this thread for the last few days so I'm throwing my votes out there...I wish I could have entered but got bogged down with work. Anyhow....
1.) omally: Wicked entry...Although I'm not a huge anime fan, this style really worked to your advantage on this project. I really like the character design, display and texturing. Overall great idea and it really stands out from the other models.
2.)artecnl: Another great entry by you...That's two in a row! Very clever idea for your octopus. In fact I was thinking how nice it would be to have a work station like that for myself! hahaha. Nice structure to your model, he has a very "geek" look to him.
3.) authentic: Everytime I see your character I have to know where he is going to...He looks like he is so rushed, and I like the use of the arms as a tie.
Just missing the mark...
Praveen3d: thought model looked a bit too realistic, no real stylized look to it. Textures didn't seem right either, don't think that it would have a glossy look to it if it is underwater. Perhaps if it were out of the water yes, but underwater I would say it would be extremely toned down.
Great models everyone, keep up the good work!

Thanks Sith. This's one of my problem, I always end up with some serious/realistic render. I'll keep it mind next time:) For the octopus, I actually did'nt had any funny concepts & I did in the last 2 days, Did just for fun & ended up Terrific :evil::)
The shader was actually made for some non-underwater scene, but changed to underwater at the last minute

1st - authentic : could be a frame from a short movie. I love the expression, the details and the rendering. The only thing I'd tweak would be the mouth, but other than that, great work.
2nd - capitan_popo : your image is a little bit greyish, but I really like the concept and the way you used the tentacles (except for the two "legs", but they don't show much on the final image so...)
3rd - arneoog : the lighting is kinda strange, but I really really like your octopus, especially the arms and head. And the concept is pretty funny. A shame you couldn't finish the environment (the ground is a bit flat).
And, err, Mim, sorry, no point, but your octopus is really cool. I'd really like to see it more detailed, with a nice environment. The round tentacles are awesome.

1: hammering3d - playful and energetic; a really nice idea. kinda reminds me of being a kid and wanting to do everything all at once!
2: artecnl - this is great, and reminds me a bit of Ben-3dt, with his many, many computers, and... i think he's even wearing one of his t-shirts too?! ;)
3: authentic - love the idea behind this, even though he does seem to have a few tentacles missing, but i don't think this harms the overall concept and finish.

Ok I have looked through them all and here are my top 3:
1st - artecnl - Really like this idea and the character is really funny, although do you get many ginger octopi in the ocean? (answers on a postcard please)
2nd - omalley - A good sense of humour, well modelled and good characterisation of this creature. Well done
3rd - authentic - Really like the 'English Gent' approach. Really nice model and concept. Though, down at the bottom of my list due to him having only 5 arms.
