It looks so real, makes me wonder if you moddeled the head in real life and took a picture of it.
The best CG is when you don't notice it's CG. You really achieved that!

A very stunning piece of art. If I am not misstaken that is done by a tutorial of the Hobbit guy. Looks like a prop for one of the orcs in LOTR :D! Awesome work man...this is main gallery quality and that don't say little :D!

I think to have just mention it in an older post,
my references are Dave Komorowski models,
I tried to model it with 3dsmax and this is the result,

Amazing piece of work. The lighting is perfect and the scene is beautiful. I wonder what that model does when the lights go out?

woah..I thought just the head was 3d...damn..I didnt know the bowl etc were..damn...now thats even more scare..AMAZING! i love it.

those look like splines to me.

I used nurbs cv curves with a lathe. I think they are the best for this kind of objects :)
