EDIT (Feb10-07):: These are the soldiers of the machine soul army. Known as Anima (latin for 'soul'). The grunt soldiers that are pushed in the first wave to establish a strong hold. They are equipped with various guns, but they are purely used for raw strength in numbers. Their primary concept is to keep moving forward as long as they have the parts to do so.
The Main head is composed of enough optics so it never has to move the head around or be blind if it is damaged on the head. the main core is protected by an outer armor. its designed to be not bulky so it can avoid being shot at. the arms are long and heavy for their own central force so it can easily pick up any weapons at the war zone. the legs are agile looking but at the same time can support the weight for massive objects on the main body.
~The Anima Army~
EDIT:: feb 26, 2007 - the body is now connected overall. i was missing his lungs and such, got his back done to somewhat extent might still change or update it and the whole mesh is now connected cept the arms.
EDIT:: march 10, 2007 - Unwrapped, model done, rotation capability and own satisfaction.
here is the update

I really like it. He already looks mean, so that's good. Maybe if he had big beefy forearms and stood about eight feet tall, he would be even meaner.
I say go for it. You have a good thing going with this idea.

instead of changing the main pic i will post a new one here.
okay so i am going to stick with the head, the jaw collar, and the chest design, so pretty much the main torso and the head is done.
still tweaking around the arms, kinda satisfied with it but the starting shoulder to arm is not doing it for me. any suggestions? draw over it if u would like.

still deciding on arms here and a side view

I like the middle arm, the left one looks a bit too cartoony, specially the hand. Good design overall, reminds me of a knight.

ok some gun models, oh and the arm also has been changed, whatcha think?

That's a big ass gun up there hehe
Liking the concept even more, now that i can see the whole body. Left arm is better, although that gun arm is not too hot, imo. I think bigger feet would look nicer, maybe even 3-digits, 2 forward and one back, like Mechs, have you thought of that?

Love the head, chest and that left arm design (the chunky one). Liking the big gun too....I think I'd bulk out the legs and feet a bit though (especially if'n he's gonna be carrying that huge gun around).....

I will change the guns, i dont like the big one i made.
here if you guys can help me decide to pick a leg now :hmm: I am more in favour of the leg i used in the side and front view, which is also leg#1, took gridlinked's advice on that one.
the arms are new too and i kinda like the idea of three fingers two front and one opposable. I had to use my toggle mouse on my laptop thats why the crappy explaination drawing of how the arm moves and turns. need comments

i personally prefer leg1.. i think that shape leg looks meaner.. i think im going for that in my design as well
id perhaps consider how that legs contructed, for example if u angled the foot steeper, so it was more on its toes, it would make a more agile, if less stable leg... perhaps play about with that?

Agent-X:: thnx Agent, I will be posting more gun concepts as soon as I am finished with the model concept.
maio:: I did consider the more agile unit, on toe, but if I give him a big gun then he needs more support on his feet. but I'm glad that you prefer leg number one, this way I can start modelling him now.

so this is what i am doing with the guns, plus his main core is going to have a suicidal blast. as a last resort they can make their cores blow up and aim these blasts straight forward but it burns the whole robot down to crisp.

can someone help with this problem i have.
three things, i need to make the arm rotate so the guns can come in front when needed and switch with arms. The other question is how are you guys adding the bones to make it walk like a robot or pose like robots. do you guys assign weights on the bones on the parts accordingly? lastly if we make the weapon a part of the bot, is it than 6000 + 1000? or total 6000?
please do comment to help me find this out.
here is a shot of where the arm can rotate at.

right, what i'de do (presuming the model is all one mesh) with the arms is ide detach the lower part and ether set it as a seperate eliment in the one mesh and rig it accordingly or i'de detach it compleatly making the over all model easier to skin. im skinning some on my one but im mostly just linking the seperate parts to the bones to pose it (saves time). and if you make the wepons part of it you will only hav 6k. ide advise investing a few polys and make an 'attachment point' on the arms thus affording you the extra 1k plus the extra map space. lookin funky bdw

oh thanks so much, squirl. I wanted to make sure that we could do that. didnt know if it had to be one mesh or not since its one texture sheet but i guess i can attach the mesh when im making the textures and detach it once i need to pose it. is that a good solution?

thnx to squirl, I jumped over the obstacle of how I was gonna make the arms.
glad you are liking the model so far Kalango.
So here is the latest shot, I am happy with where its going now. the blue shading is some lighting that i was trying out. His chest is open so you can see the core. those tentacles on his chest are their for armor as well. they can open up too. he can use as his final option to go nuke. the base model is finally finished. all i have to do now is unwrap, texture and set pose shots.

Your concepts are full of good ideas. I liked the replaceable limb concept.
The ammount of thought you've put into it really shows!
The model is progressing great too.
Have nothing to add for now. Keep up the great work! :)

I am glad I could join this Competition; and the many Talented individuals that competed in this contest bravo to them for their impressive works of art.
Fun fun times, now for some rest and back to merging with society and spending time AWAY from the computer.
