Yes, I've succumbed to the dark side...

My concept - Big ass dragon robot with a lot of fire. Will post concept tomorrow...cause I'm off to the really army now :)

Here is my concept. Cause of my shotty drawing skills, the proportions are all wrong. I want a longer neck/wings/body and smaller head. Like the Nazguul on LOTR. I havent really decided on too many details just yet.

Just a quickie to shot the proportions I'm going for. I'm in the middle of doing the head.

I don't know if I should do a heavily armored Dragonbot or bits of metal held together by like a fiery core or something. The role of this robot is not just destruction but more so to terrorize so there are many ways this could go. Luckily machines have no fear. :)

the idea of a robotic dragon is great and all, but seems like it wouldn't work out. I mean, metal is very heavy so I don't see this thing flapping metal wings fast enough to take flight. But I could be wrong. Prove me wrong.

you should add some rocket packs in the back cause of the weight, kinda like a jet!

Just my 2 cents!

I understand what you saying but take a look at Star Wars - what makes the probe drones used by the empire fly? there is no visible propulsion in anyway.

To expand on the "bits of metal held together by a fiery core" .. maybe I can do a metallic skeleton (where the main torso is) and have like a dark matter reactor or something along those lines which act as propulsion. Or a flubber :P

*Edit*

Does this satisfy your hunger?

I don't want to come off as a wise-ass, but if this dragon were to live (or just exist, it's a robot after all) on a planet with a much denser atmosphere, or with less gravity, or both even, it could easily get enough lift. Besides that, what if the metal is just outside and inside is a bunch of super-heated gas that is so light it makes up for the heavy metal?

There are always several ways out, which is why fantasy and sci-fi is so great ;)

Also, it wouldn't be the first technically disfunctional object ever modeled :P

Anyway, to more important business, I like the idea, the modelling so far seems promising.

Sweet! I like the concept, I cant wait to see it with some more weapons and stuff. And some landing gear like mechanical feet. Keep up the good work!

I like the concept and the way its heading but, I'm wondering if the wings themselfs go over the 20% flesh allowed in the comp...

Hope that it doesnt :)
Keep up the good work ;)

Who said anything about flesh? There is no flesh on my model whatsoever - Its designed isight fear in the lowly human scum through its simularities with the mytholigical creature. The wings are made of a metal skeleton controlled by a central computer that pulls on cables which travel inside of the arms. The arms are covered by metal plating and a flexible plastic compound that is fire retardent.

The wings (between skeleton) are electronic projections that look like theyre their but they arnt. So the dragon is driven by the main reactor (WIP shown in belly) which propels the dragon through alien technology that parts the molecules surrounding the robot to create a small crease in the universe by which it can move freely... make sense.. no? Good cause the human mind is no way near delveloped enough to fathom the scope and operation of such alien technologies stolen by the naughty threedy robots ;)

dunno its late and I'm tired.
