Hey,goat ,nice to see you posting again :)
Really cool designs you got there, the one with that blue light is my favourite so far :)

I really like the bottom middle! Good stuff :)
09-02-2007, 03:46 AM
nice man! i'm realy digging the spirit idea, its quite original and contrasting, keep it up :)
09-02-2007, 03:51 AM
YES~! glow that sucker up, and bring your wrath on the armies of flesh
awsome idea about that powered hand! really nice ;) n glad we have you goat, out of the can with machines! ;)
09-02-2007, 02:03 PM
Cool, keep pushing the spirit in the machine, maybe have wires attached to the spirits head (just floating in the air). From the head they go down in the armor body. just a thought.
Anyways GL Goat!
Maybe I've played too much Warcraft in my life.. But that sort of reminds me of those Infernals. You know, Black molten elementals with green glow on joints. Rain from the sky in warcraft 3 :)
Very nice concept, powerful, cool, deadly. All you need really :)

O' MAN I know this is going to be GOOOOOD,nice concept bro.
Hey thanks guys for the kind words. I started the high poly mesh. Its ehh so far. still reall early. I am going with that bottom middle, with some elements of the top one. I may start over. Not sure. I also may mess with it in zbrush. at least give it some damage using Z. Crits are more than welcome.

i really like the idea and concept for this one and great start to the model.
16-02-2007, 06:39 PM
Looking good exciting stuff. Keep it up.
ok even though I've been quiet i have been doing some work. did a little more concepting(in 3d/2d) and got a high poly. I'm now off to normal mapping. I want to come as close as possible to finishing sat or dang close anyway. Not exactly sure on how i am going to approach the head yet...and i am going to try and make a massive shield for a weapon. This guy is is all about defense. I also have to make some sort of energy ball that he will emmit from his hand. work work work!
Crits are welcome.

Cool I like it, I take it you are doing the glowing particles as alpha maps? (Unless they are allowing Direct-X scripting or something)
For the head why not make a kind of helmet with large gaps where the energy escapes from the eyes/mouth/edges etc. It might give it some more definition.
not a bad idea with the helmet blackwolf. i may try that if i can't achive what i'm trying for with the glow...
Also i think the legs are too long..i shall shorten then a bit i think.
thanks man..and thanks to everyone else as well :) !

nice to see that you're still here man hehe, looking nice btw, keep it up.
normal map so far. i will have wires in the morning
09-03-2007, 06:14 AM
Those kneecap joints are sick!
some wires. I should have the normals finished this weekend and a good start on the textures.
Started texturing..see page 1 for update

The textured area looks great, nice rust, will go well with the soul. Just saw the news that we have an extension. Looking forward to seeing the end product, keep it up.
still working! almost finished. hit a crunch time snag at work slowed me down a bit. I like some things, could have done other things differenly. Learned a bit too along the way. Overall i'm happy. Anyway i have to make a shield and a Stand. i should have enough time. such great work by everyone. I'll try and get a 360 up tomorrow.
diffuse/wire in max viewport

Wow man thats freaking awesome! you could pu it in UT hehe, i'm loving it, also the specular could be higher. Looking nice!
Great work Goat, I like those aged rusty metal maps :D , one of the bests thought, ;)
n tnx for wire also! I learned something about how you did that amazing particles on it! :smug:

I think this looks really nice. One thing i think that is needed to help drive it home is some light cast off of his spririt.
That would integrate the spirit more effectively.
24-03-2007, 05:55 AM
wow i really like the way you have made this one and those effects look so good, i know i learned something from looking at the way you did it, thanks
24-03-2007, 06:26 AM
Nice stuff Goat! You might consider adding abit more contrast in the flame areas so it pops more and doesn't look so washed out!
Maybe a few decals/logo's placed very well could help spice up your texture as well!
24-03-2007, 06:31 AM
ah i have one tip for you :)
You could add lights to the places that emit light(ominis) and bake the texture acording to the lighting....:) would be nice
hey thanks guys for the kind words.
Kalango- thanks. ya spec was a tricky thing. when viewing the animation it was too high but too low for the render. but i'm somewhat happy with it.
mim- cool man glad it helped.
TMaloney- good call i tried that bit in my final render. i think it helped
shadowbreeze- cool. ya i would say i also learned a lot on this one. it was def worth it.
ThatDon- ya i started putting decals on the shield and in retro i would have done some of that on the body rather than just rusted...:(
Kalango- well the reason i couldn't bake the light in is because his textures react to light so if i bake them, lighting would get tricky. but thanks for the idea!!
I got a little tied up with a crunch at work the last week so i didn't get to put all the time i wanted into the renders. The first is the winning pose and the second is one i'm still working on. Just for personal reasons. This was a lot of fun. great work to everyone. even if some didn't finish there were some really great stuff out there.Cheers
