Here is an updated version of "Sig1".
I appreciated the feedback on my previous design.
I feel that this one is stronger.
My only thing is to give him a more interesting weapon.
My initial thought was to ground it in a real war style idea.
But now im having my doubts.
Any thoughts?

Here is the starting of modeling. I am just getting the basics down, then will build in detail.
Any thoughts?
Goodwork tmalony, btw thought 3494 tris is alil high for this level cause guess you did about 1/3 of your robot by now! so you have to use your budget more carefully! ;) just my thought! ;)
mim, :haha:

How about some detachable weapons? You know, just not t waste the extra 1000 tris :P
ahh, would be great idea, ;) just make it detachable! :D also about that sphere like head, I think you can optimize it n other parts aswell likle those eyes, you can creat em by n-mapin or even just bump maps, expect for that biger one! :dunno:

Thanks guys!
I have everything as sepreate eleements so if needed, i can go back and adjust to conserve tris.
Also, I am sketching out a detachable "BFG" sort of laser cannon to go over his other shoulder.
The good thing is this guy doesnt have legs, that saved me some budget

Also, is there a tri count for things like the flames that come out of his propulsion system, do those count as some tris?

looking good so far, as a suggestion though, you might want to save polys on "wasteful" areas like the shoulder armor, those can be done in your high rez mesh for the normal map, so you can use those valuable polys on more important parts.

I was away for a week so I was only able to sketch.
Here are some pose shots of Sig1.
My first sketch was stiff. I wanted to see how he moves.

Great concept. No self respecting robot would be caught with legs this far in the future. No legs ftw. :D

legs can be fun, where would you be on the battelfield without some under foot crushing action. :smug: besides you can always hide the jets in the legs etc. love the design by the way.

Here is my finished model.
The count is 5988. I might add those extras in at places.
I will now move on to modeling his shoulder cannon.
Then I will go to rigging and texturing.
Let me know what you think.

Here is a quick remodel of some problem areas for Sig1.
His shoulders needed to be more interesting.
I am moving on to texturing.
Let me know what you think.

take your time. If you screw up the unwrap, your texture will be just as bad.
