View Full Version : Speed Modelling Challenge 144 & 145 - 2D Platform Game

Marty_McFly-3DT

1, Each week we'll post a subject for you to model along with a time limit on how long you should spend on it. Spend no longer than the allocated time then post a render of your model. No cheating, we are relying on your honesty here and the idea of speed modeling is to simulate a "real world" environment. If you are working on a project and asked to show a concept model you'll need to be able to get somewhere near the target in the allocated time. Your submission should be a model created especially for this challenge and not one you have stored on your hard drive.

How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what we have asked for. Any images of models that do not match the brief will be removed and the poster disqualified.

2, You may enter as many times as you like as long as each model is completely new and uses no components from other entries. Entries using models which are not original will be removed and the poster disqualified.

3, Your entry may contain as many views of your model as you like but it must include a clear and easy to see wire frame of the mesh before any smoothing/subdivision has been applied. Please use a screen grab. No other method is acceptable and any "wire renders" or wireframes we can't see properly will be removed and the poster disqualified.

4, You must include the following details with each submission: software used and time spent creating the model. Any further information is voluntary but posts not containing the required information will be removed and the poster disqualified.

5, Post only one image submission per entry which must be no larger than 800x600 pixels in either landscape or portrait format with a file size of no more than 100k. These images must be uploaded to our servers using the "browse" button on the forum reply page. Do not link to external images files. Larger than the maximum size or posts containing links to external images (other than for reference materials) will be removed and the poster disqualified. Until the image uploading issue is solved, you may use a file hosting service to compete in the challenge... but the image and file size requirements remain intact.

6, The creation of displacement maps, normal maps and any splines drawn out in an external program other than your modeling software are to be included in your modeling time.

7, Time spent on rendering or texturing or building a scene in which to display your model is not included in the allocated period to allow those with slower machines to participate on an even playing field. What we are looking for is the quality of the models you can produce "under pressure". If your model is not complete, you can still post as long as it's recognizable.

8, Posting the same entry twice in a challenge will result in a disqualification. When asked to fix a previous post due to DQ or any other reason, you must fix the first post, or delete it altogether and create a new one.

These rules apply to everybody taking part there will be NO exceptions

Time limit - 90 minutes
Deadline - 22.00 G.M.T. Wednesday 18th of April 2007
Subject - 2D Platform Game

2D Platform Game: The most classic example of a 2D platform game would be Donkey Kong... where you take on the role of Brooklyn's favorite carpenter (later to be known as a plummer), Jumpman (later to be known as Mario)... as you face living fireballs, tumbling barrels, and moving platforms on your way up to save your girlfriend, Pauline from the evil escaped zoo gorilla Donkey Kong. Heh... well you are to make a scene from your favorite 2D platform style game. If you want a little more info on 2D platformers... you can read up on them here. Have Fun and Good Luck!

he he, you can read me like a book can't you :)

Righto i've got my Snes Emulator up and running with digital and legal I might say copies of my real Snes games and i'm getting reference screenshots :)

I'd play my real snes right now too, but I can't get high res reference pictures off the TV.

I've got a feeling this one's going to be a big hit.

P.S. - I'm anxious to see what game you've chosen Marty :)

lol

Read through the article and some of the games it mentioned brought back
some memories. Another World, Shadow of the Beast and Turrican were THE
games back in the Amiga days :)

Of course the first game that came to mind after reading the topic was:

Q-Bert

Don't know if anyone remembers this SNES platform game, but it consisted of detaching limbs and using them as weapons. You could also do a spinning Sonic the Hedgehog move, but I don't think it did much. Model is based off the first level.

I hope this is a good model to help kick off the contest. It's the Piranha Plant from Super Mario Bros. I'm suprised that I got it to look so much like I imagined when I started the model. I guess I'm just getting better at modelling.
I think this is going to be a popular contest. There are almost infinite possibilities when it comes to the 2D platform theme.

Anywho...
modelling: 85 minutes
texturing/lighting: 120 minutes
rendering: ~5 minutes

So finaly I finished. After one failure (I run out of time) I modeled one of my favorite 2D game -Worms. I know that now there are 3D worms, but I hope I won't be disqualificate because of that. The one thing I'm disapointed are eyes. No matter how I tried I couldnt texture them in such way that they look ok. :wall: The rest modeled out of box or cilinders, and then turn in to editable poly. For bridge I used multiplied symmetry modifier, and thats why Im showing only one "part" of bridge in mesh.
OFC I modeled 2 favorits weapons from worms - holy hand granate and minigun :]

This one is based on "Cruisin". I havn't played it in a while, but I remember liking the game. After taking another look at "Cruisin", I'm pretty sure that it meets all of the requirements that define a "Platform game".

modelling: 90 min.
lighting/texturing: 4hrs.
rendering: 5min.

Modelled in Blender3D 2.43.

mix_ts: Delete your first post and you should be fine as far as your entry goes.

No worries... the main part of the articles that applies here is:

Platform game, or platformer, is a video game genre characterized by jumping to and from suspended platforms or over obstacles. It must be possible to control these jumps and to fall from platforms or miss jumps.

So arcade games can definitely count... like Ghouls & Ghosts... as long as it's a platform styled game. Oh... and I'm glad you like the forums too... ;)

A long, long time ago when I was still a little child there was that game I used to play all the time on my GameBoy : Kirby (don’t remember the full name of the title, but that doesn’t matter). The hero (or the main character) of the game is a (living) balloon that sucked enemies in and repels them back out of its body using it as a projectile for defeating other enemies. The objective of the game is rescuing your friends by defeating several bosses found throughout several stages (I don’t remember it fully; my memories aren’t what they supposed to be) . I really loved that game and though many different games were released featuring Kirby the first one is the only one I played.

Now with this challenge, the first thing that came up my mind was Kirby. I modelled Kirby together with a bomb. I don’t really know if both characters featured in the same games and I also didn’t had the time or materials to verify that out (the internet abandoned me for some reason and I don’t own any copy of the game anymore). But even then I gave it a shot.

The scene was actually easy to model, therefore the modelling did not take too long. The scene consists mainly of standard primitives: (hemi)spheres, cylinders, boxes and a plane. Modifiers were added on top of the several objects (affect region, taper, bend and such) to give them a dynamic and cartoonlike look and some objects were converted to polys for some basic modelling. I also used some splines for bushes, cubes, wind and stars.
I played a “bit” (actually very long) with the textures using photoshop. Eventually I used none of what I had created, and thus went over to using standard colours.
The lighting was pretty hard to do as well, I used several omnis (6 to be correct), 1 target direct (to simulate Sunlight), and a Skylight. I think I used to much light sources ( and I’m positive you would agree (heeelp)).

The scene was rendered with scanline renderer and with the light tracer turned on.

Without holding you up: LINK to my first entry (http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/4448/smc2dplatform05us0.jpg).

Nice entries guys

Hehe, I think this is even better topic than usually, great entries!

And here's my first entry.. It's from the PSP game Locoroco. The idea of the game is to collect berries and move through levels by tilting the game world, not by actually moving the game character. I've never played the game but it looks fun (and somehow crazy...).

modelling (3dsmax 9) - 70 minutes
texturing & scene setup - 60 minutes
rendering (VRay) - 3 minutes

I ran out of time, I think the model was too much for the time given (with my skills anyways (or lack thereof)) . Anywho, no time for a scene or pose, but it is alright.

Finally I get around to finishing and compositing an entry together, i've got many many more entries made, but alas haven't got the time at the moment to composite. So you'll have to make do with this first entry at the moment.

I'm actually suprised at how some elements within a 2D platform game are quite difficult to model.

I've gone for a right classic game, this was in fact the first ever game I had, it was released separatly but in my case was a built-in game called Alex Kidd In Miracle World. This was built into the Sega Master System II console, highly addictive, incredibly simplistic but had what quite a few games have today and that's playability.

So this is the very first scene in the game after you press start.

I hope you like it.

Hello everybody!!

First of all, congratulations for the topic, Marty. Great idea!!

I'm surely in this week... only have to find the time :(

I've had a look at the posts, and here are some comments...

VersionThirst - very cute first entry ;)

Computer Kid - your third entry is very nice.

mr_lemon - wonderful scene. Makes me want to start playing :)

mix_ts - welcome to the forums too. Nice Mario scene.

Anawak - very very nice entry. It really looks cartoonish. Simple, but nice.

Eetwartti - cool entry.

Ok, now... don't wanna seem picky, but I think some entries do not apply to the rules :hmm:

It says: "well you are to make a scene from your favorite 2D platform style game."
I saw some entries without scenes. So, if someone could just correct me if I'm wrong, please...

'Cause I don't wanna spend time modelling something out of the rules. ;)

Anyway, fantastic entries, people... Keep it up and good luck.

Welcome back to some of our older members that are returning to us after some time. It's nice to see some of the older faces around. :)

As for your question Mimi, yes... there are a few entries that don't really qualify as "scenes." Unfortunately, they won't count as part of the challenge... but I won't make them an instant DQ either. Please be sure to take care to understand the rules when making your entries.

Marty

Computer Kid
10-04-2007, 02:14 AM
Regarding the "scene" conflict: Can a poster for a game (or an intro scene of a game) count as an entry, even though it is not a scene from actual gameplay?

Marty_McFly-3DT
10-04-2007, 02:25 AM
I'm guessing that by intro scene, you mean title screen. A title screen isn't really a scene from the game... it's just a title screen. The point here is to model out a scene from a game. So let's just keep things simple shall we? ;)

2nd entry from me then, i've finally managed to get some free time and finish of my second entry for this SMC. I've missed a few minor things such as golden rings and a better background but i'm pretty happy with the results of this entry.
I've gone for Sega's classic Sonic The Hedghog 2, Tails the fox was annoying always following Sonic, in fact i'd always try to lose Tails at every given opportunity, but I can still remember my excitement when I first played this game, it was so fast and colourful and highly addictive. It still is in fact, only last year I bought the Sega Sonic Mega Collection PS2 game and all the classics are there. This was a cool game.

Modelled as always in Cinema 4D, Tails is basically a sphere with 24 segments and Cinema 4D hair attatched to it, that's why Tails is very dark. Sonic is a copy of the sphere but without hair and a little bit bigger as was the case in the game. I've tried to re-create the waterfall section of the game from a game screenshot I made from my emulators. It's pretty hair to create a waterfall, but i've played around with metaballs and emitters, coupled together with dynamics, & gravity emitters aswell, it works pretty well, and I think i've got an ok-ish white water spray too.

That's about it, all other information in on the composite render.

More entries to come when I get some more free time :)

As I said before this is a nice topic from many different views...
So I liked to make an entry and YAY! I'm going to render it!

but before posting my entry with my next post
I like to post my some comments:

Marty:those tiny creatures are nice! Mario rules!

mr_lemon:Nice modelling & texturing job there!

Tokai:Nice modelling job(in 50 min!)

ANAWAK:I love your entry! Kirby is cute!

Eetwartti:MOJO MOJO LOCO ROCO! Nice entry! As you know during playing Loco Roco
our main buttons are Left Trigger(L) and Right Trigger(R) buttons!
So I think that's why they call this game (L)oco (R)oco!

Classic Gamer:Hey as always nice modelling jobs in your entries,
BTW I've never played "Alex Kidd IN MIRACLE WORLD"Looks it's a nice classic game!

fredrik-85:Another nice Kirby entry but this one is Cell-Shaded"Nice idea".
BTW I like your Mario entry too!

There are also some other great efforts too, therefore congrats to everyone!

"Hopefully you will like it & of course as always your valuable comments are WELCOME!"

One of my favorite games is Sonic!

So my entry is based on Sonic!!!!!!
Please click HERE (http://i11.tinypic.com/34ig29l.jpg) to see my ENTRY #1

Software: Autodeks's 3d Studio Max
Modelling Time: 88 Minutes
**********
OFF TOPIC(A little about Sonic's current situation):

BTW I've recently read that SEGA are going to re-invent Sonic for PS3 and X360.(Source:1up)
So we won't see any more Sonic games on X360 and PS3 at least for 1 or 2 years???
Well, It's good that SEGA know their Sonic for PS3 and X360 didn't make people happy enough!
Just imagine if SEGA decide to make a little big planet like Sonic!!!
for PS3 and 360!something like my entry?

At the moment people are saying that Wii is saving Sonic
& many gaming sites believe that the recent Sonic game for Wii
is the best 3d Sonic game during last 7 years(ever?)
hopefully the upcoming Mario and Sonic title for Wii and DS
will be something different too!

Anawak & Alimn - Thanks alot for your kind comments. I used to hate the rock, paper scissors bosses too, I used to spend hours getting it right. :)

Alimn - You're sonic the hedgehod entry is fantastic! I really like the look of the scene, you've got the ground and the tree perfect!!!

I'm hoping to submit some more entries soon, just as soon as I get time to render the entries out.

(Additional Off-Topic) That's interesting news about Sonic being re-invented. I'm sad and happy about it at the same time. For those of you old enough to remember the glory days of Sega, there was a time that Sega were at the top of there game (no pun intended) they really were though, they were one of the biggest games developers and the battle of the console between Sega & Nintendo was legendary. It's a shame really that Sega is just a games developer, opposed to when they developed console technology. From what i've seen of all 3 next gen consoles, they all have incredible features. the Wii seems to be winning in the re-invention market, by making the playing of games an exercise now, rather than just sitting there. Which I suppose means that you can only play a game until you're body is tired. I can remember once playing Super Metroid on the Snes for nearly 16 hours, I had loads and loads of breaks and loads to eat and drink and I went to short walks etc, but you couldn't do something energetic on the Wii for too long. The 360 looks incredible, but I've gotta say from what i've seen of the finally released PS3 it wins hands down for me already. Maybe that's because i've stayed with Sony since the start. But also because i've recently viewed the teaser trailer for GTA IV and it looks stunning. I know it's going to be released for the 360 aswell. But it's certainly an exciting time in the games industry now. I'm sure Sonic will look great. Anyway ramble over and back to modelling me thinks :)

I used to play the game Rolling Thunder a lot when my family still had the Amiga. Unfortunately, the thing crashed a while back and hasn't worked since.
As far as how the modelling went:
The door ended up rather sloppy when I added the inset slash down the center, but it still renders nicely. The characters are extruded outlines of the character as shown in the game. Of course, I finessed them up a little, too.

All in all, it just makes me want to play the game again. Maybe I'll take out the amiga sometime soon to see if it will work (or if it can be fixed, even). There's nothing like old consoles!

modelling: 90min.
texturing/rendering/etc.: 30min.
Modelled in Blender3D 2.43.

He he I think he might think I'm a good modeller, but I'm not, I just enjoy modelling alot and try to give kind comments to those modellers that are better at modelling than me :)

You yourself are a very very good modeller, I always love people's idea's in the forum, that's what make SMC's so great, you get to see such a broad spectrum of creativity.

I must find time to render out my other entries.

its really a long time i didnt post any entry, im very busy at the university, i've a lot of homeworks to do, but i've been watching every entry, very nice to everyone!!! i do like a lot that one from CG, with the waterfall! awesome entry! as for the next gen games...i agree with u CG, Sony's games are awesome, i aactually own ps2, psp and ps3, and damm ps3 is so spectacular, i've playing to resistance : fall of man, so addictive, and yeah, cant wait to see GTA:IV, and Assassin's Creed...X360 do overheat too much, and more thing about sony, online playing is free, and works really nice with WiFi, for now, i wanna buy Motor Storm and Rainbow Six : Las vegas....so nice looking games, and dont forget about Gran Turismo HD...hehe..

ill try to come with an entry b4 the end of this challenge

h2k1 - You lucky, lucky man :) You have a PS3! I think if I start saving now, I'll be able to afford to buy a 2nd hand PS3 in about 5 years lol. I really hope that they don't give up on producing games for the PS2 for a good 6 or more years though. Not everyone has got a HD TV and £400 or £500 to buy the PS3. Gran Turismo looks real to me, I saw a video for it the other day and as usual with most video games I thought that it was the typical promotional CG video, when I suddenly spooted the text "actual game footage" and not FMV I was astounded. We really have come a long long way with CG and Video Game CG, and really to be honest it's not really taken that long to get to near-photo accurate rendering in games. It's only been about 10 years since we've had titles such as Daytona USA & Ridge Racer and I remember being amazed at how realistic it looked, not only can CG artists like ourselves and others make artwork as good as those games 10 years ago, but certain GC artists accompanied with Final Render/Mental Ray/Fry Render/Maxwell Render/VRay (delete as appropriate) CG artists can fool even the most talented modellers into thinking that there latest artwork is a photo. It makes me wonder what's next on the games development really, maybe we'll be progressing in to HD 3D or 4HD a brand new photoreal virtual gaming environment that's on TV's as large as Cinema screens the total immersive video game. Either way it'll be fun finding out. One things for sure, games back in the 80's and 90's had playability and it doesn't matter how real, or fantastic games look nowadays, if they've not got that X-Factor, the little something that hooks you in, it's going to be left on the shelves.

Anyway, i've gotta stop rambling on like this.

Let's get back to what we all do best, let's model some more entries guys! :)

Kind Regards

DahWan:Classic Gamer is a real active member(modeller) in these forums.
I always respect to these kind of members.
BTW as Classic Gamer says you're a very good modeller too,
I've seen your works in past.

h2k1:Good to see you again, I still remember your previous cool entries! especially that Telephone Booth entry!
so I will be waiting to see next your entries.

BTW my current next gen console is X360 and I'm really happy with games
like Gears Of War, Lost Planet, Dead Rising and I will be more happy with upcoming games like
HS's Lost Oddessy, HS's Blue Dragon, HALO 3,
PGR4, DOA CC, Ace Combat 6...(Well, If I can buy them, lol!)

but if "God" helps me I will be able to save some more money to
think about getting a PS3 too! I really want that console!
just for it's exclusive titles...as you know many PS3 exclusive titles
and many X360 exclusive titles are going to be able on both platforms...
Saint's Row, Devil May Cry 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Virtua Fighter 5
are just some of them. Ohhh I should get a Wii for SEGA's new NiGHTS too!
HEY! Where is Shenmue III??? SHENMUE 3!!! SEGAAAAA! :grr:

ClassicGamer: Have you seen Crytek's Crysis for PC
(and 360 in near future)??? that game is nearly photo-realistic!
I agree with you on fast is Gaming Industry!

BTW I read the following comments in an article about
"Tetsuya Mizuguchi" and his recent thoughts:

"In 30 years we have gone from a black and white dot on a screen in Pong to rich HD graphics" -
and there have been huge advances in Mizuguchi's 17 year career -
"where will we be in another 17 years?"

TV and music "aren't changing as much as games"
because their technology is more set,
but games are still moving rapidly.
He wishes to absorb all the information he can to work out
"what is the core of a human" so that in the future
"everyone will play games" in the same way everyone listens to music now. "Everything can change."

Hey, guys maybe we should talk more about the art & business of making games
in the other forums like OFF-TOPIC Discussion!lol!

Well now, i've finally got some free time earlier today, I managed to render this out about 3 hours ago, and then i've spent quite a while compositing and re-rendering with different lighting and such ever since.

I'm actually pretty pleased with the way this one came out really. The compositing which was made with Photoshop CS2 is pretty obvious and realism hasn't been achieved here, but I still think it looks ok.

For those of you old enough to remember the good old games this was a classic.

Rampage consisted of a king kong type Gorilla, and a Godzilla style giant dragon as just some of the different giants that you played in order to blow up buildings, several people in the buildings would have guns, grenades, explosives and allsorts, while helicopters with missle launchers would be deployed above you, basically the aim of the game was to totally obliterate the buildings still standing, most characters mose notably the King Kong Gorilla could grab onto and escalate up the buildings and punch and rip and kick sections out of the buildings, once all the buildings have been demolished you progressed to the next level.

Rampage first appeared on the arcades, then later progressed to the Neo Geo and popular consoles of the time, such as the Megadrive / Genesis and the Super Nintendo (Snes), 2 years after that they then naturally progressed onto the handheld brothers of the two systerms the Game Gear and the Gameboy.

So i've used the Peter Jackson Kong here because the 2D game version looked silly next to my little building scene.

Now onto the 3D modelled scene.

Created in Cinema 4D, everything in the wireframe screengrab is modelled from a primitive cube, then i've basically extruded, inner extruded and made several knife cuts, and tried to vary the different styles of building. In the case of the prominent skyscraper you can probably tell, it's a base mesh and then it's been copied copius amounts and then the whole mesh was connected together. The lampposts were modelled at a later time, and therefore are not included in the screengrab, they are there to dress the scene. If you look closely i've even tried to match the lighting on Kong's fur, the reference picture I had was actually lit from the left, and mine is lit from the right, i've even added Kong's shadow on the nearest large building.

Anyway enough yapping, here's entry 4 guys.

I hope you like it.

Kind Regards

I suppose you're right, but I've researched it a little more and it turns out the inspiration for the Gorilla was actually King Kong, this is cemented with the logo i've placed on the composite render, you'll notice a small heroine in his hand.

I don't think I can change it now, and I don't want to, but thanks for your comments matey.

Hello Everybody =)

This is my first post...

Actually I've been watching these forums for like four months, but never had time to post, and was afraid to post my renders here just because they are rubbish and don't even reach 1/10th of the forum's quality =)

Well, about myself...
I'm 17 years old, currently looking for a job (nothing to do with CG, I'm an Electrical Technician =p), and I've been using 3d software (mainly 3dsmax) since august 2006.
I hope I enjoy my time here, and of course, you like me =)

P.S.: I'm a Rubik's Cube lover ;P
P.S.2: I'm from Brazil, and don't speak english very well, so expect some grammar errors ;p
P.S.3: These weren't released in Brazil till now =p

About the Challenge...

I was wondering why nobody remembered about "Bomberman" series, these games were my favourites back then =)
Then, while making some test renders, I decided to read the whole thread carefully... Then I saw kalabugtak's mistake and discovered why people didn't remember about Bomberman =(
But my model was already done and I was rendering, so i kept making it, now it isn't an entry... (or didn't I read the whole thread carefully enough? =p)

Anyways, it's here:

Reference >> Reference (http://www.nintendoland.com/graphics/screens/super_bomberman_3_2.gif)

Render >> Not an Entry (I think) (http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/8592/bomberte6.jpg)

Here's another entry for Rolling Thunder. The model is of a different level of the game, of course.
I don't have time to texture it now, but maybe I'll upload an image of the textured scene later if I get a chance.
For disambiguation: The grass-like mesh of the model composes the hanging grass sections at the top and middle, as well as the lumps of turf at the bottom of the render; subdivision is turned off for all of the wireframe renders.

modelling: 85min.
lighting/rendering: 20min.

nice one 3Dfernando.
Off topic: how did you applied your leaves onto the tree. Doens't look like scatter, judging from your wireframe, right?

Hmmm... if I had to guess... I'd say it's some type particle system... am I right?

Hello, thanks for the comments, I'm glad you liked my non-entry =)

Anawak, it's just a Spherical PCloud, nothing special =p
If you look carefully, you'll see the leaves are messed up, like pointing towards the wrong direction =p

Rawk, Nice models; I liked the spaceship, but I think you should chamfer some countour edges of it and add a meshsmooth modifier, it would look much more like your reference...

Cool game, from what i've seen of it, like you say the whole car is destrucatable, I can remember playing Detruction Derby on the PSOne, and the car's getting dented slowly over time, but the video's i've seen of this game, everything reacts 99.9% as it does it the real world, and what's even more incredible to see is that it happens in real time too, I've seen a few vid's where the player has been bashed about so much and the car becomes a near right off, everything crumples and smahes just how it should, the dirt and grim, and gravity and physics involved in this game is mind blowing. the glass of the windscreen progressively shatters and makes that spier's web style smash when a stone or something hit's the screen, then the glass smashes completely leaving dangerous shards around the windscreen edges. I know it sounds silly, because in the real world, things just happen like that, but for a totally computer generated game to deliver this much realism, it finally coins the phrase "total immersive gaming" because you really feel like you are there.

Back on topic, i'm really looking forward to the next SMC announced tonight after 10.

Kind Regards

ClassicGamer : ohh yeah, thats so freaking awesome! im just surprised how every single part interacts...and the worlds, OMG, they looks just so real, just like a video, awesome! in Resistance, the glass effects are so nice, u can shoot at them and see every little crack, the good thing is that they dont dissapear...theres even some skill points that u need to shoot at every glass in one leve :D hehe Me too i m waiting for next challenge!!!

ok, add some explanation about the modelling...compressing the image has lead to a lost of definition in wires...aghh....the egg is just a sphere modified with soft modifier, the ladder is a little bit modified cylinder, the main charachter head is a sphere with some extrusion,as the foot (duplicated to be used also with the eggs) the platform drape is a modified and copied poly plane with many subdivision (so it's not meshsmoothed),the pepper container ha been taken out from another cylinder as the tower (make some extrusion and copy in the up direction with some rotation,as the extrusion have been taken out from different number of quad along the cyl shape it will give the IMPRESSION of a wall with offsetted brick)...mmm...think that's all...if i've missed something let me know...cheers

The PS3 is actually $600.00 in America. I bought mine off of my brother-in-law. So I got a discount. :D

Marty

Actually it dropped down 100 bucks I believe on Sunday. The PS3 use to be one of the least expensive Blu-Ray players. But now that Blu-Ray is becoming less expensive I guess they pretty much didnt have a choice but to lower it. Matter of time before the 360 drops their price to still have a fighting chance

Wow! finally I won! YES!

Thank you so much everyone!
but I don't really do these challenges for prizes,
because I just like to be with you and practice(test) my skills!
so, maybe I get this prize just as "a valuable memorial" from these great forums.

Thanks a lot again!-Alimn
