I dig the hard black and white contrast
my drawings always turn out to be very greyish instead of featuring some nice contrast
I can see you have made some improvements on the character, but it still doesn't feel like Simmy to me
Don't be afraid to really change things, i can see you made his nose a little big broader but still the difference is quite small
how about making his nosebone broader as well? that was actually what i had in mind for him.
I also think it would be a good idea (especially also for practising different sorts of faces) to make all of his facial features wider. Keep the broadness of the head the same, but try making his nose broader, his mouth, his eyes, etc.
Looking at the reference pictures I gave you, I also notice that gnomes eyes are slightly tilted. The side of the eyes that are the farthest away from the nose are a little but higher up in the head than the other side. That would also add a little goodness to his face without actually giving him an expression, i think. Btw I think he looks a little bit sad on the front picture instead of emotionless.
You told me that Simmy is a very friendly and funny fellow, maybe it's an idea to add some laughing wrinkles to the sides of his eyes? I believe laughing wrinkles also include a few tiny wrinkles along the sides of one's mouth.
You also told me that Simmy looked fragile. I think a second line (the second line near his mouth) will actually make him look stronger. I think erasing that line and instead of that making his cheek bones go a little lower and sort of 'cut' into his face there, will give him a more fragile look. - Have you seen the movie "The pianist"? I think lead actor Adrien Brody (playing Wadislaw Szpilman) has a quite fragile look to his face. Maybe you can get some inspiration from that.

Thx for the comment, i still have very much to learn and your comment certainly helpt me. Unfortunately i can't alter Simmy anymore, so i will move on. I am currently working on an ice troll.
