I made this simple neclace for my troll which contains of one thread and six teeth.
I dont want the teeth to bend or deform like the thread, and I want the teeth to kinda control the deformation of the necklace (you know, gravity and such). I dont want the it to intersect with the troll either.

EDIT: Oooo I forgot, I use Max5.

Where to start?

Since u have max5 then u could try "HAVOK Reactor" dynamics it has the ability to create rope animation & collisions ... can't tell more about this just check "reactor reference.pdf" and u will find a tutorial with scene .....

Thanks for the tip.
I have heard some good stuff about Reactor, but also that it has it's drawbacks.
I havent tried it out yet tho, but I will.

can you turn each on of the teeth into a deflector or adda deflector to each tooth.so they don't cross paths

For the string you could use a spline for a bone

and then the teeth(deflector) will react with the string(spline)?

Hm don't know you'll just have to experiment a bit I guess

you could try the relax, melt and pinch modifiers.
