Hy there!
I was wondering if you know how to model a model like fleur de lis?I have chosed this particular model since it covers a large base of variations, especially in architecture.
I have tried various methods to model it but none worked. As you can see from the attached picture, the model contains (and I mean the flower itself) both round and straight margins.
For example, the base is comprised from round margins and some other straight ones (at the center). The model then raises up at the center but the peaks are round too.
If you try to model this by making a shape for the base, fill the shape and then cut the peaks on the shape, you will get the round base but the peaks will not be round, since you canot use beziers when you are making cuts on a face, the lines are always straight.
There is another problem. If you will use only polygonal modeling without MeshSmooth the straight lines will look ok, but the model will look awfull as there are no round lines in it.On the other hand, if you will apply a MeshSmooth to that, the round lines will show up, but where the model should look straight (especially at the peaks) it looks rounded too, and that's not good.
I have also tried to use the HSDS modifier to smooth only some parts, but how you can smooth only the area around an edge and not an entire polygon?
In conclusion, how you would model fleur de lis?
Thank you in advance!
Best regards!
