I'm having the hardest time making a face or a body. I've read many books that all reccommend that I use Splines, Box modeling and nurmbs but I've tried all of them and I can't really get what I wanted. I've been doing 3d pretty seriously for about a year. (2-3 hours a day) and I just can't get the face or body how I want it to look. I would really like some advice and any modelling techiniques that you recomend.
approxamatly how long did it take you to model decent looking characters. I would really like to know. just so I have an idea what the general learning curve is.

One great beginner modelling tutorial is the Joan Of Arc tutorial. It was originally made by a french modeller, but someone translated it and put it on the 3DTotal (http://www.3dtotal.com) website.

Go to 3DTotal (http://www.3dtotal.com), Threedy.com's sister site, and point to the "Free Stuff" menu, and click on "Tutorials". It will be on the first page, and will have some pictures of a blue breasted woman :D.

Good luck.

i agree the joan tutorial is a great tut, I did it but used patch grids and found the results to be preety good, it was my first attempt at a character. I didnt do any clothing or the sword i just wanted to see how to model a body and face. I dont know what others think of patch grids? any comments?
