October 2007 - Eyecon - Lost Valley

Hi Guys!

Took me more than 2 weeks and 3 failed attempts to derived this idea. It seems that the previous matte took most of my ideas away so I have to restart my system all over again.:wall:

Since this is a sketch there are obvious perspective issues. I have not really put that in mind while doing the image, I would be fixing them though, on the final one.

Here is my concept sketch for the matte, and with less than ten days to go.... whoa bo, I hope I can make it to the deadline!:halo:

Great sketch man, I really hope you'll finish this matte cause it has a lot of potential :)
I would leave out the houses, which kindof ruin the mood and have only that wild, jungly feel.

Thanks suirebit! I'm glad you like it. It's actually inspired by the Banaue Rice terraces here in my country. Only a few asian countries has that and I think we have the oldest one. Its a great sight to see. Although the pillars of rock are my own idea, the mountain like rice terraces are actually true.

With regards to your advice... yeah I think you are definitelly right, I'll just leave the lookout building though, (the one on lower left). :)

Heres an update....
Not much, modelled the rocks, and realized that I placed the wrong color / texture... somehow it just does not fit..., will change that later. I'll just use the shadows and the light cast. So far most of the update is the background, which includes mountains and the clouds.

Oh, I tried to change the clouds but surprisinglly when I placed this image it somehow just fits in! So nuff said for the clouds...

Okay another update. I'm about to finish the left side... On the to right and the Left side! At this rate I might just reach the deadline! :D

The competition will begin volatile now :hmm: ...

Developments wonderful in design :) , and I think that is now much better than before :) ...
We waiting for the rest of the elements to complete the work :dance: ...

This might just be the second to the last update...

Added the right side area and the foreground. I'm not too happy yet about the overall look of the image... I might just fix that on the cleaning up stage...

Hi this might be my final update before I post the image.

I have tried to add a few more drama on the image, and refocus the viewer to the center by darkening a few details.

Hey just an update I corrected a few things that were bugging me...

changes:

Fixed the perspective on the right
fixed the depth over the left hills going back
fixed the difference of the overall values over the right
fixed the palms blending through the back
and a lot more fixes.....


any comments are welcom, please do... I want to fixed any problems...:D

Another update... Made the whole image a bit saturated and placed the focus by adding a few God Rays, which I really am not a fun of, but somehow made more sense and added a little drama to the whole picture.

As always, I encourage for your inputs and comments. Only with those I can improve my craft.

Haha, nothing is cetain my friend. Who knows you might take home the prize! I just do what I can and besides, this is more of a learning thing for me. I am a newbie too like yourself.
