As my first car i chose to do a Audi RSQ, I got the idea from http://www.3dtotal.com/team/Tutorials/audi_rsq/audi_01.asp
I'm doing this as a quick model for my portfolio although im not that great at 3d modeling. please give me suggestions on how to make it better. I havent really got the detaching part correct(you know the one that makes it look seperate) if you have a suggestion on that i could REALLY use it

I've made this car myself, the most difficult section for me was the rear engine and engine hood section, you're going pretty well so far, you've got the basic structure modelled very nicely at the moment.

Are you planning on just making the car or adding the doors in the way they appear in your reference picture? I made the mistake quite early on when modelling mine to make in editable while under mesh smooth to get the rear curvature how I wanted, my mistake was that once you've done that you can't go back lol.

I can't see anything to crit right now though, just remember to try and keep your edges sharp on the front bumper section and around the headlights and watch how your edge loops are too, this car is borderline organic in shape there's more curved lines that straight to this car.

I wish you all the best with it, you're going great with it at the moment :)

Kind Regards

I'm trying to get as much done as possible by Thursday when i have to present my portfolio. I really want to get some of the interior started tonight. not to sure how to go about doing the seats, dashboard i think is pretty straight forward along with the steering wheel.

This model is starting to hate me. I have run into so many snags and 3dsmax crashing randomly. then i get all these poly errors (i think cause from my vid card) so after i fixed all those problems this is what i achieved.

Nice work, it looks pretty close to the concept. I think the biggest problem, though, is the front end of the vehicle. All around the grill is very sharp and pointed, where the concept is not. It looks to me as if your front bumper is misshaped a bit as well, check the ref. Also, you could use a bit more reinforcement at the seams, you've got some uneven edges there. Last, your grill is flat, unlike the ref. Edge flow is great for your first car.

Keep it up.

Yeah, I'm slow at modelling too, but its what you get at the end that counts.

I tend to model a bit, until I get one bit finished, materialise, render, render, render, etc , etc, etc until I get bored, and I need to keep throwing myself from doing that until I actually finish the model.

Little fixes as long as they aren't too big can be done after the main mesh completion :)
