View Full Version : braveheart short
about 2 months ago I created this short, but never posted the link here, so here it is now!
it's my first serious attempt at lip-synching (damn that's hard stuff to do!!). I've used the very famous braveheart speech, hope ya like it! Allthough it's far from perfect, I think it's ok for now
hope to get some comments 'n crits!
best way is to right click save this target:

I like the character. The problems I have with this piece is that you're relying on all the feelings and the expressions to be shown in the face. You should, in my opinion, have the camera further out and animated the body. Have him marching or waving his hands everywhere or something but you need more movement.
The lip syncing is good but it is slightly off (in my opinion) I think you should delay the sound by a few frames.

interesting, I'd have to say he needs body movement and it bothers me that his jaw stays in place while his mouth is moving...
i noticed that the mouth needs this position
thanks for the replies. I definetly agree that it needs more bodylanguage 'n stuff! I didn't really feel like modelling the whole body (hey, why not put him on his horse as well?!) since I was making this to test some lip synching..which I now know is very hard to do so I'm gonna concentrate on what I like best, modeling!

lol...looks good...but i think he needs to express mor feelings...make him wave his hands...and so on...but i think it was really funny...but as i said u could make him more ecstatic about his speech....
thnx for the replies all!
Rinne, the hair was done with paint effects attached on clothcurves...took a darn long time to calculate for my poor lil' machine...
Rinne, I use maya 4.5 and photoshop for texturing
this animation was made on my old compi, a dual PII 500....
My computer now is a dual AMD athlon 2200, and a gforce 4 videocard...have it now for about 2 weeks and I love it!
