I am wondering if anyone knows if there is a Maya equivalent to the 3DS MAX slice plane, where you can select a plane and slice through all the faces that it intersects?
The only way I know to split faces in Maya is the Polygon split function.
Thanks

i'm certainly no expert on maya but a few of my friends are and they tell me one of maya weakest areas is that it lacks more poly editing tools so what you look for may not be there. from what i've read they have remedied this situation in the upcoming maya release 5. i'd check the maya help file though and see what you can find.

In Maya 4.5 There is a "Cut Faces" tool which allows you to slice through multiple faces. The faces must be selected first though...

Thank you gentlemen. I know I can't afford to go buy 5 yet....Would you happen to know if there are any poly tool plugins?

the cut faces tool works the same way as max's slice plane tool does. It's a little finiky but just select the object, you don't have to select the faces, just the obejct...hit W to select the transform tool then go into edit poly and select the cut faces. Click on the object and drag to determine your angle. Release and it will cut through the model.

Many thanks.
