I just finished a model for a university project and; well I want to rig it so I can animate it. I did the tutorials for riging and animation on max 8 but because of the leg position on the model it is making it hard to do, can somebody give me some advice on how to rig the model?, i have managed to rig the leg to move how i want it in the T pose, however i cant seem to get it to move the 107*
thanx for you help.

Limited rigging experience here, but the first thing I'd try is to separate that model into it's component robotic parts and use a hierarchy system.

the good news it you made a robot, so you dont need bones to rigg it.

Detach all the main parts of the robot, so that the head is it's own object and that all the main parts of the legs are their own object. This means there should be 3 objects per leg. Now you can use the iks on the legs the same way you would on the bones with out worrying about skinning.

Thanks guys for your help; but my problem is that when I move the leg, it looses its alignment, it looses its place by rotating slightly and the assembly winds up looking a mess. Its not in linking the bones that I have the problem, its when the piece moves axially forward or backwards.
Thanks again.
