So the idea is simple, take some type of food and make it dance.
If we are lucky, THEE will turn his mesh into an obj for everyone to play with. He would be so cool if he did that. Or, everyone could just make their own.

I've seen the repeated one, it lost a few frames in the loops!
U're good student thee. I'm animating cube now.
yeah that's why i didn't post it, in after effects it loops fine, seems photobucket deleted a few frames.(repeated in photbuckets editor, don't use it!)

Dancing toast is more my style. I am working on the rig now.
hee penguins i'd love to see some toast dancing.
Tuss4- if it's the one who i think it is, he probably wouldn't care because he's to busy. Well i think that mr banana would beat him on that part too :)
MikeYork-I hope your still in, lets make something of this animation challenge!
Maggie- can't the cube become some sort of food like Feta (φέτα).

if you toos a flex modifier on the tip of his head and the tip of his, umm, his, "skin", then play with the values, you can get some nice second hand animations
If you never used a flex before, then you will need to know that you must add a edit mesh modifier to the top of the stack, then go into the verts and use a soft selection to grab the tip of the head and all the verts you want to wiggle. Then while the verts are still selected, add the flex modifier.
Do the same thing for the "skin" But keep in mind that you will not want to use the same edit mesh or the same flex for both the head and "skin"

Yeah I guess it kinda did. I was gonna enter something but I got really swamped with all sorts of other stuff. I was moving into a new Apt and I got sick with the flu. I even had a character modeled and almost rigged :-(
Next time :-)
sorry got no time at the moment maybe if MikeYork still wants his character to dance this challenge deadline can be changed.

Hey dudes and dudettes. I'm back, and there will be food here soon, and it will be dancing.
Got a few animation ideas too, I'll post links when they start turning into reality.
I'm seeing some good effort in the competitions since I last checked, let's keep the momentum going! More food! More dancing! The key to remember here is that it doesn't have to be complicated, it just has to get done (that's actually a good metaphor for life). Let's see what you've got, and poly counts be damned - we're animators!
Lets go, everyone, this food isn't going to dance on it's own. (Well, the grapes in my fridge might, but I really should have thrown those out a long time ago.)
This is a good chance to practice, so don't worry if it's not perfect, just do what you can in the time you give yourself.
Good to see everyone again, I'll be posting something more tangible soon.

The candy is so totally awesome. Is that 3d? If it is I can't believe that texturing. Amazing. It looks like it is a cartoon. What software do you use? At this rate I may have to resurrects my toast.

I used art of illusion and used this texture:

Oh, I tried to map the textures better (see attached image)
I would have shown you the animation, but it looked really, really odd.

What happened to this thread. It is just me and you then. I am needing to make a quick one. humm. Synchronized candy bar dancing/swimming. No real big rig needed. :haha: (ya I know I am lazy.)

well, now that the war is over we can get back down to buisness.
But I think we should start with something new, any ideas what the something should be.

i think all the speed animation challenge could use a huge refresh with clear rules, prizes, deadlines, advertising and more. just like the speed modeling challenge or somthing...
penguins

Yea I am with chuba. One of the hardest things with this challenge is it takes lots of time. Modeling a character, rigging texturing ext.. I am not sure what can be done with that, but that is my thought. Maybe one character that a generous participant supplies and every one animates it?
It needs to be more then just a Great topic (dancing food) to get others to join in.
Hope this helped

hey guys! is this challenge still up?
if it is, then, count me in

if you want to jump in on this one, thats fine. But, the new challenge will start soon. As soon as people start throwing out some ideas. Or we can start over with another bouncing ball animation.

I reckon we should have a farting contest.
Whoever can animate a fart.
It will be cool to play with particles.
Some people fart larger particles than others.

idea problems, no one is giving any.
well i have plenty, y didnt anyone ask? :)
anyway how about if we start with a man playing in a guitar?
free rigs for all 3d programs are avalible in 11secondsclub.com
so all we need is a guitar model.
i have a 3ds but its need a lot of work i think.
and i know about tutorial for modeling classic guitar that are easy enough...
let me know what you think.
also i have a lot of ideas such as the brilliant flour sack exercise, man jumping to a distance or another olympic sport evant. we can also do a lot of cycles like a man hitting with a hammer (sledgehammer is better i think) or bird flying or we can even start themes like "animal movement" or "vehicles movment"
i hope its help in a way but i still think you should consider refresh all the rulez, prizes and more important - DEADLINES. it will make things much more clear.

LoL Thats funny. I mean the farting.
Some great ideas from Chuba as well.
I was thinking of of a martial arts, naruto, dragon ball Z, style contest. I dunno if something like this was done before.
Also we can do what the speed modeling contest did. Kind of start over. "The new speed animation contest."

Absolutely the contest needs rules and deadlines. As far as ideas go, I'm happy to give a few: Man trying to move an anvil, Man strikes out (in baseball), tarzan swing, the high dive, vegetables at war, changing a tire
