thats looking pretty good.

I think if you work a little more on looping around the eye and nostril areas you'll be able to remove quite a few polys without losing shape - this will help you define the forms better too

I've attached a quick paint over that I hope should demonstrate where your main loopy areas want to be

Peter Salvatore

Wow,i'm impressed.Just dont rush it,Peter, the loops could use some improvement indeed, but you're really off to a good start with this one.Just dont rush it and dont be afraid to spend some time for correcting your errors, rather than moving to the next part.Good job so far!

hey peter
good start
i would suggest you try boxmodeling once you have some spare time. i think you could work a lot faster with that. just start with a box and extrude your head out of it. then start refining it. and only add edges where you need them.
that should make your models easier to handle and much lighter.

Nice looking stuff.... I really like nurbs as well and i think tis is looking very good. keep it up...

Peter Salvatore

thanks jynks
thanks phe ash also since now i was doing with box modelling but when try to go wih simple plane i think i found it more efficent than the other one but as I said its a point of view.I have even trien splines and nurbs before in other programs bt poly by poly makes you to see the details much better box is also good for some mechanical things I think box modelling is better

totally agree, but as said dont rush it Peter. Stop continuing and redo the edge loops in the head. Then go on on your way to glory.

Don't you ever have this thought again! It might look a bit better with those things, but you have to make sure that the model itself is decent enough to even start the texturing.Right now it's not.
People told you not to rush, but you didn't listen again. Delete the body, look at what poopipe showed you, redo the topology and start making the rest of the model again!

Reb0rn
19-03-2008, 01:59 PM
Yeah, you totally rushed it, seems as if you only wanted do do a good giraffe head.

listen to aleksandr, you need to rework that body.

the head looks great though :)

The head was coming out nicely...
Those legs seem to have been run over by a Safari jeep full of drunk prep boys from some University at Alabama :(

If so, it's a major trick! "Peter" is on every CG forum you can imagine. Seriously, go check if you don't believe me.

I see big improvement in the head. Hmm. I wonder why the body doesn't match the quality. :wall::hurt:

Holy crap, Peter. Listen: DELETE EVERYTHING BUT THE HEAD! Seriously. The head was a HUGE and MONUMENTAL step in the right direction for you, but you took a big crap in my smile when you modeled the body. So, start over with the neck and body. One step at a time. You can do it!

!ToM
25-03-2008, 09:52 PM
I've been following your stuff for a while. For sure, your head does look like you have improved.

I agree with everyone else, the body was a bit rushed. Time and patience will improve your model. The giraffe looks really wrong from the side.

It helps me, I don't know if it will help you but I like to draw out my subject before I model just so I have a more familiarity with the subject.

Also these guys are giving you some awesome advice. Take the advice and your giraffe will be 100x better. And you always get better by practicing.

I look forward to updates. Keep it up.
