I'm stoked, I spent an hour writing out combinations between the classes given, the types given, weapons and races as well as gender and what I eventually came up with was a very spindally, undead female with a one/two handed broadsword and is Clericon and light/holy. Talk about Juxtaposition! My sketches in the sketch pad are pretty much done, so look forward to a finished photoshop concept sketch soon.

UPDATE: I have added my new concept to this page, enjoy.

Alright, I've got myself a computer graphical trace of my sketch and character profile, more definitely to come, and this is not a competition concept either ^_^

And for the sake of all that is war, slap me with critiques later (just idea phase for now, so art in concepts is not full potential XD )

At least her enemies don't have to worry about mid combat quips/insults...

Looks good!

Alright, another rough concept, this time a full body. I'm seeing alot of Blizzard's influence in my concept though, but I don't think it's discouraging enough...

Ok, story time:

Without light, there is no shadow. Lady Vraven knew this as she succumbed to the bite of the most powerful vampire on earth. That was eons ago. Now in a universe torn apart in war, Lady Vraven has arisen in the turmoil, yet, like all vampires that lay in rest for so long, she has turned into something different, something more powerful than ever before.

After centuries of being trapped under the rubble of an ancient cathedral, she struck a deal with an angel, pledging her undying allegiance to the light to become free to roam again, knowing full well that without light, she would not exist. She is an outcast from the others, a stain on their robes, yet she is the one who travels the earth, taking care of 'heaven's' business.

She works as a missionary, a woman to spread the word, however, in her own approach, she has chosen to do so with a more.... original methodology.

Ok here's some simple body structure, cloth and air will be next, followed by sculpt and texture! WOOT!

you know you got 9,000 tris to play with now. So you can ngo back and add more to your model, to help define areas, like the breast and booty. You could even give her a mouth, and then model the htreads that keep her from opening it.

yoyomon
18-02-2008, 04:22 AM
I think you should make her thicker. If your going humanoid and it's a serious deal like the DW, then I think you should go for the more ideal female figure.

setschaos
18-02-2008, 04:44 AM
I thought it was only 7,000 tris... I have the whole model budgeted out, the main body (without clothing or hair will be like 2.5k then cloth being 3k then the wings and effects being another 1.5k plus 1k for the sword.

As for now though, thanks for the comments guys, I'll continue working on the model, just finished sculpting the main body, but now I have to unwrap.

@ yoyomon: I think that I'm going with flimsy to make a more elegant approach to beautiful death, shes going to have a lot of holy light and tentacle-eaque wings to make for a very dramatic and intimidating presence. Hopefully what I'm envisioning will work out, if not, then I have some time to figure it out in the beginning stages.

it got changed from 7000 to 9000 :D, so defiantly cut in some more details

Nice! I will definitely go deeper then! Back to MAX!

setschaos
19-02-2008, 04:58 PM
Ok, here's some simple studies of a few of her body's details. I've decided to take a step back and trash the model to revise ten fold on the concept before I jump ahead to modeling, I may even go as far as to predict the actual mesh layout in a concept XD

attention to detail ^_^

Nice, love the little thumbnail studies....I think I might shorten her arms tad. I know you're going to for long, lanky arms, but at the moment they seem to be just a bit too long to seem comfortable. Could be just me though, and it could just be because she's in a neautral pose.

Nice tattoo on the back as well.

setschaos
19-02-2008, 05:29 PM
yeah about the arms... I was originally going for an alienistic anatomy, but I think that I'll end up reverting back to a more human form just for trouble's sake and to make her more like eye candy (which I was originally trying to avoid) sigh.

But I have high hopes that she'll turn out the way I envision her in my head.

19-02-2008, 05:49 PM
i think you can use standart female anatomy + some undead things, i duno like bones coming out etc...
or if you wana make here with long hands ,mabye here leggs shuld be longer also

setschaos
19-02-2008, 09:12 PM
Alrighty, guys, I took a step back and decided to start over with new intent, "Using all 9k tris!" I've decided to take to piece bit by bit and patch up any connecting areas with my own hand done normals, I seem to have learned how to use them pretty well.

Regardless:
UPDATE! lawl

I've been having a hard time thinking that my concept thus far has really been helping me develope my patience and skill, so I went back to the drawing board. Here's a little preview...

Very nice...I love the golden hue...I actually was considering the same on mine, but decided to go with golden bronze accents...I was thinking that your color choice will work well...good luck!

I really like your new concept! Can't wait to see how this one turns out!

setschaos
21-02-2008, 07:13 PM
Ok, so I was working diligently and I came to a screeching halt with a question. What color should this be? I have always liked the whole red and gold look, but I also wonder if it's too out of place. I think that I will repeat the cloth look elsewhere, maybe draping down from the back or the front of the shoulder pads.

Anyway, here's a small update along with the feedback question, thanks guys

Your first concept was really good, but I think this new one is better, not sure.. both are great. =P

I agree in terms of image quality the warrior is the better of two very good concepts, although idea wise I think I may prefer the earlier female character :) I think the golden armour of the warrior could really make a model of this concept really stand out. I also like the little 'asterix' style wings on the helmet :D really looking forward to seeing were you take this / these designs, good luck mate )

setschaos
21-02-2008, 08:02 PM
Thanks for the thoughts and comments guys. I think in the time being, I will continue to work on the warrior. Although, I still really like the idea of the clericon female. Maybe I'll return to model her one day. On that note, here is a quick concept of the warrior's weapon, a rendition of what I suggested in the idea thread.

alright, concept is complete, enjoy, I think I'll do a few more rough sketches in different poses/ angles before I get started, maybe add a few more decorations and that back cloth I was thinking about. For now, let's hear some crits and suggestions! thanks guys.

win this contest and you don't get a tablet, you get a freakin graphics tablet pc type thing. It can trasport you to anywhere, with a simple click of a button.

Well, lately I've been playing around with my beauty shot ideas. So far I think I'm going to go with something similar to this, but at a different angle, I thought this would be pretty dramatic XD enjoy

looking great, i love the proportions and color. you could always tilt the eyes in a bit more to make him look more intimidating/agry. maybe add some kinda chain or linkage to connect the shoulder pads together across the chest. the kneepads on the boots could use some more volume, maybe stick out a bit more. ankles look a bit stiff, you could make a separation between shoes and shins with overlapping armor to show freedom of ankle movment. you could add somthing to show how the thigh armor connects to the body or ****** armor. alot of your armor seems to have rims along the edges, the wrist bands dont seem to follow the same pattern. will the wings in the back of the head be gold as well? or are they staying white? i really like the eye hole design and the design of the hammer. its kinda hard to notice the 3DT symbol in the hammer and on the wrist bands, but they fit and blend in well with the characters design. i dont see any blue or grey in the design, but you could always just make the pedestal those colors for team spirit. so far, its looking like he could easily destroy a planet, and by the time your done im sure he could destroy 8!

Alright, I figured I'd settle my resolve and wait to post until I was done with the model mesh and normal map. More bump will come and the magic really happens with me in the diffuse map, so more to come!

C&C always welcome. It's at 8250 tris.
