Hi Everyone!! :)

Now has come the time to start posting those fantastic final images!! :) Please post your Final Images in this thread!!

800 or 1024 sized images are fine.
Please post all entries before 7th March 2008 10:30AM GMT.
Only entries posted in the Feb 2008 - Bull in a China Shop - VOTING!' thread before this date will be eligible for Voting.

Voting will then start immediately afterwards and will run until 14th March 2008 10:30AM GMT.

We will post to commence the Voting on the 14th. Voting will be the same as last month, with each voter putting forward their top 3 entries, in order: 3pts for a 1st place, 2pts for 2nd, and 1pt for 3rd. This means that we will all have to choose very carefully!

Please feel free to give reasons for your selection, as it will be good feedback for everyone!

I see that a lot of amazing WIP's never got to submit, which is a real shame. There were some killer designs there.
Anyway, here's my three cents:

I did wonder the same thing Silvaticus.

1. DaddyDoom - I love the scene, it reminds me of the balcony from "Horton Hears A Who". The bull is also nice with a great expression on his face. The only thing I don't like is the book page on the left. I assume that you put it in for humor, but to me it is a distraction from the rest of the great image.
2. mr_poppin_fresh - Another excellent image, love the detail on the shield and armor. The bull is great, but the scene is not as appealing to me as DaddyDoom's and therefore I gave you second place and DaddyDoom first. The rendering looks really nice and gives it a nice soft cartoon feel .
3. Pants - The bull is great, and I like the scene as well, although I do not like the bright light wall outside. The render is where it gets really hurt though. It feels like you were going for more realism rather than cartoon style. Seeing as it is a more cartoon style competition, I had to put you down in third.

Honorable Mention
4. Siege - I love the really cartoon look of the scene and the bull is the best out of the competition in my opinion, but the whole thing feels a bit unfinished to me. I would have liked to see a few buildings in the background and the stadium is not too appealing to me. I love the red tag sale sign though. I am also unsure of why the stadium is called "Stadium Site" ;)
5. silvaticus - Great bull, but that is all there really is to it. If he was posed in some way, and had a more interesting scene, then you would have been in the top 3 easily.

The page on the left was just the way I found best to place the details of my entry. It could have been a bit smaller perhaps, but that area was kinda empty, and I ran out of time to invest in the scene, which was by far the most complex scene I had the chance to do in these challenges. Maybe next one will be better!

DaveO, fifth place is alright for me, I just wanted to make this observation: I see this challenge as a character challenge so I concentrate on that neglecting the scene. The rules say "it's up to you if you want to have a background or include some graphical elements or text on your image". I know everybody puts their main figure in a scene(I did too, sort of, last month) but I`ll keep on focusing on the characters. Thanks for the appreciation anyway!

Thanks for your comments guys! Unfortunately, I spent too much time with detail and ended up losing sight of composition and cartoonism. Will definitely refocus my efforts in the next challenge. See you guys there!

hello everyone,

although the idea behind this challenge is that all entrants take part in the lead up to the voting stage by posting their concepts, WIP stages and generally just taking part in the thread, I don't feel that we should exclude mr.poppinfresh's entry this month.

it would be ideal if, in future months, mr.poppinfresh does take part more in the activity before posting his final image; however it is very clear to me that his entry has been created specifically for this challenge and I think that we should therefore not be too harsh, and should instead encourage him to take part more in the next challenge by posting his WIPs so we can all enjoy his working process!

if anyone has any problems with this decision, please don't hesitate to email me at lynette@3dtotal.com.

hey, i've noticed a couple of people mentioning that the deadline changed this month. this is true, and it's important to check the thread every month. the only reason it changes is due to weekends, as obviously we don't work weekends at 3dtotal so it's much easier for me if we can always have our deadlines, etc. on a week day. this is the reason why the dates may change on occasion by a day or two. always check the thread for the deadline dates so you don't miss out!
