hi i'm modeling a window crank in 3ds max and my edges are causing problems with turbosmooth. there are seams on what should be a cylinder shaped protrusion. its a pretty simple shape but i'm not sure how to fix it. i like modeling but i always feel like i'm doing something wrong so if anyone could help me clear this up i would be really grateful.

It's your smoothing groups. The sharp edges are causing your mesh to pinch.

I'd make the hard edges with a chamfered edge instead.

Example on it's way....

I won't lie to you, it will take some tweaking to get it looking right.

But it depends on how closely the viewer can make out the details of it.
If it is going into a rather large scene, then I would just shove a cylinder on box, and call it a day. Maybe play with some booleans.
