Volition Inc., developer of Red Faction, is currently seeking talented and experienced Level Designers, or individuals experienced in programming or architecture and willing to learn. The Level Designer will create levels on a new “first person shooter” that is about to enter the production phase. . Applicants must have the ability to develop a design for and script a variety of levels with immersive and innovative gameplay. Applicants must have strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with other team members.
Responsibilities:
-Develop level designs, focusing on gameplay.
-Build and script level mockups, interior and exterior.
-Work together with Level Artists and other team members to refine levels.
Qualifications:
-At least two years of applicable industry experience. Having worked on shipped titles is a huge plus.
-Fluent knowledge of at least one major game editor (Red, UnrealEd, QERadiant, etc.)
-Strong architectural-design skills and/or art samples are a plus. Relevant experience may serve in place of other qualifications.
-Programming skills are a plus. Relevant experience may serve in place of other qualifications.
-Familiarity with at least one major 3D package (3DS MAX, Maya, Softimage, etc.) and Photoshop, or similar 2D program is a plus.
Sample Work Required:
-Samples of level work or mods , in a playable format(not just screenshots) including written breakdowns for each, (deliverable via online or CD format)
-Any additional work demonstrating skills that you can utilize in this position is welcome. (textures, traditional or digital artwork, animation, sketchbooks, etc.)
All samples must be accompanied by a description, with specific information on what you were responsible for, what tools were used, etc
Relocation to Champaign, Illinois is required.
