Very realistic, you have used HDR images for the reflections right?

Neilando

Hi.

Yes i have used a HDRI image for the reflections. I am very bad at lighting and texturing though, its something i need a lot of help with.

Very nice renders specially the shaders and reflections. On the last one the (350Z) the front tire is ruining the render is looking way too big.

Neilando

Yes you are right. I will re do the tire. Thanks!

Beautiful renders man. Some kind of floor reflection for the last car would have been great though

Very nice work mate, your modeling is extremely good!

What app and renderer are you using, as you have some jagged edges and stuff but that shouldn't be too hard to sort out, give us more details on your lighting/rendering setup and I am sure people in here can help.

To note the first couple of renders have very dark headlights which looks a little odd. but as said modelling is awesome!

:)

This is the final car have made. AGain thanks for feedback, its will really help.

I am just using the default scanline renderer that comes with Max8. I am so bad at lighting and textures. I would really apprecaite any help.

Leaps and bounds man, nice to see some work from you again! i think for the 350z the rim paint looks kinda off.

Neilando

Thanks Tuss. Yeah i guess it had been a very long time since i last did any 3d modelling. Yo are right about the 350Z, i dont like that render at all, and i will work on that a lot more. Kinda rushed that one a little i think. Its amazing what a bit of HDR can do to a model too, the ferrari is the same one i has ages ago, just re rendered using hdri. I cant seem to get hdr to work completely well though. It seems like i always get the dark horizon mapping over the roof where the sky should be reflecting. Any ideas?

Looking better, the tail light is not doing justice to the rest of the car look into that too, but much better looking I like the new paint.

you could always play with the UVW coordinates.

Neilando
25-07-2008, 08:04 AM
Oh right, i am so stupid i didnt even realise UVW would affect the way a HDR maps!. I assumed it was some kind of global illumination. Will try messing around with uvw! thanks you!

Tuss4

play with those settings

Neilando

Tanks Tuss, just tried that i OMG, thank you!!!! lol. I didnt realise that was how to spin HDR'd! i always used to try iusing the UVW modifier! Thanks so much. (Told you i was bad at textures, thats such a simple thing i should have known)!

This is the most recent model i have made, and is the last car model i have. Although i do stillo have the chevy and nissan to create a final render for. But i think i might leave car modelling for a bit and move onto buildings/scenes.

Anyway, would love to get some feedback about these renders.

Thanks Optimised3D. I've learnt alot about lighting/mapping with these renders so it has been really useful!

Really, really good models. I think the first renders are a little dark and high contrast. Unless that is the look you were going for. The second batch just look really out of place to me. They look like they've been superimposed over the background. I think the lighting is wrong or something. Maybe play with th shadows and lighting a bit more.

Nice mate, improving, however have you looked into Mental Ray as a render option, will give you some better results (although in Max 8 was a bit of a pain to work with).

Nice renders, I want to start doing some car modeling myself after doing organic for a few years. Where do you get the blueprints/ images for the cars you model? I can't find one for a 350Z anywhere.
