hi,

I animated my skeleton different ways, it works fine.. until now: I'm doing some crazy moves and the skeleton acts weird.

Please take a look at the frame..

the main root has been rotated to the side, the problem is I need the shoulders to stay with the spline.
See how the two shoulders stay straight, independant to the spline, and so does the head.
I thought it's something i forgot while setting up the character, please let me know.
thanks a lot.

PS: how to attach more than one file on this forum please?

i don't think it's a bug, if it is, i don't know where it'd be from.. (?)

should the shoulders be parented to the spline? (that's how i'd do with maya, but how about max??) . i followed the tutorials...

anyonse else knows about it? :-/

Yeah you should parent the shoulders to the top most spine bone or preferably a dummy object that the top most spine bone is parented to. This is the skeleton set up from the Max 5 tut right?

yes, the max 5 tutorial.
this is what the schematic view looks like (see picture)

top of this hierarchy is "SpineLinkHelp"

I did link the Leftshoulder to the spinelinkhelp, but still doesn't work.. and plus, when i do it, the "zerohelp" goes on its own.. what's up with this?

thanks

I've always disliked the schematic view in Max. Basically, you need to double check your linkages.

1. Link ClavGoal to Shoulder Control
2 Hand Goal to Hand Control
3. arm start help to spine link help
4 Shoulder control to spine lnk help
5. elbow cotrol to spine link help

Also make sure you create your helper objects in the top view.

OK,
I did create the helpers in the top view, i'm positive.

Those first 3 are correct:
1. Link ClavGoal to Shoulder Control
2 Hand Goal to Hand Control
3. arm start help to spine link help

But about those 2:
4 Shoulder control to spine lnk help
5. elbow cotrol to spine link help

In the hierachy, between shoulderctrl and spinelinkhelp I have ShoulderZeroHelp..
and same for elbow control, before spinke linkhelp I have elbowzeroout.

.. thanks..

is spine link help supposed to be linked to something , or is it top of hierarchy ?

thanks.

oh my god! that was the problem! ..
i just linked the spinelinkhelp to the HipCtrl, and the shoulders follow now, it works.. i'll do some more tests, and hope everything works now.. i'll post again later when i'm done.

thanks again.
