Im trying to render out an image to be printed in maya that will be 18 x 24 at 300 dpi, but everytime that i try to render it, when it completes and i try to open it in photoshop, it says someting about not being able to parse the file or something of the sort.

Does anyone have any tips for rendering an image to be printed at a large scale?

there aren't any tips really, all you have to do is set your resolution what you need it to be and render it then save it as a file type photoshop reads. I would suggest targa, never use maya's .iff file type its not really compatible with most software. Iv rendered 4000x4000 images in maya and there was no problems opening them in photoshop. Good luck, if your still having difficulties i'll try to think of other possible problems.
