Selecting Edges with Edge tool ( Poly ) 3ds Max 9

How do I select say the edge of a rectangle without effecting the other sides. I tryed indvidualy clicking on the edges I want selecting but I can only select one. This is driving me MAD.:crazy:

well a few different methods. if you want to individually select more than one edge, (or anything else vertex, face, etc etc) then hold down ctrl while clicking to multiselect.

also for edge selections you could select an edge, then click the loop button to select the loop around that face (only available in editable poly and not editable mesh objects as far as i am aware)

Thanks for your reply. One more Thing How do I activate Helpers again I cant seem to see any !!!!

For example I cant see the x , y , or z axis for the move tool

Press X and it will toggle between the two modes for the gizmo
