All I can really say is I love Robocop. Are you gonna model with or without the helmet? Cant wait to see it finished!

he will wear an hat - i think thats faster to model in the short amount of time.(actually i already have modeled his helemt for an smc - did´nt took more than an hour, so ist shorter than modeling wires, a face, technical stuff inside etc...)
here´s an update - just finished the upper part of his "torso"

Looks promising already, the chest plate looks about right, as does the leg armour, the shape and style seems to be in correct proportions.
Are you going to try Zbrush for the face area, I remember a fantastic Robocop done in Zbrush, i'd also like to see this battle ravaged with lots of dents and possibly rusting areas.
I built ED209 in 1999, but never got round to texturing him :( There's talk that a new Robocop film is in production, I think they are trying to re-invent the franchise like Hulk & Batman has been.
I'll look forward to updates, a great start. Much better than I could do anyway lol.

thanks :)
i never tried z-brush before, and i want to get this thingy done on wednesday (latest) to send in the application. so - if i have enough time left, to try a new software - i´ll do it, if not - i´ll model and texture it in max/photshop
btw - a new robocop would be cool. but who could replace replace peter weller? i think the only one is christian bale, but he plays in the upcoming terminator 4 - might be a conflict of interests here :D

Good question, they might go for a well known actor or an unknown like the original Peter Weller. I read the other day that Arnie might be in T4 superimposed onto either a real actor or a digital actor. Not sure how that'd work, mind you they did it for Christopher Lee as Count Dooku in Star Wars so who knows.

thy just have to buy bigguns arnie, and they are done :D
hm, unless one of my favourite actors, mads mikkelsen hasnt the muslces - but a very cool face, especially the mouth area - that would look cool under the helmet - and because he´s very thin - he´d fit in the robosuit.

Here´s another update, can´t belive how long it took :( the pelvis is driving me crazy, so i started with the legs. ah damn, i forgot to turn on symmetry again on the pelvis, never mind the irregularites there, i´m still shaping. i think i´ll go on with the lowerlegs.

another update. took me ages now to model the lower leg, i had to start 3 times, cause my references where kinda "unclear" - i decided now to model it freestyle - so it won´t be a 100% copy, but i cant see the details exactly - so i´ll will invent them.

:( i think i can dump all i have so far.. the model became to complex to be edited afterwards, and the blueprints i had where not detailed enough.
anyway i found a nice site here:
http://www.legionxxiv.org/robocop.htm
i think i´ll remodel the whole thing, trying to keep it simple this time.
ok - the laboratoty is now set up - ready to go again :D

si, first wip of the new one. I´ve been playing alot today, doing some experiments on chamfering and stuff like taht. (and the post a funny picture thread kept my attention for an hour) The Chestarmor is the old one, tweaked a bit. Remodeld the legs and the pelvis.
so please give feedback on whats wrong. This thing is very lowpoly, i try to keep it as simple as possible, and then texture all the mechanical stuff like creases and bolts...

Hi Folks,
i decided to remodel the chest armor as well, because the first one wasn´t really correct, lousy alignement of the vertices, and too many chamfered edges. this one is very lowpoly. I also removed the bellybutton hole. I found it distracting.
here are some wires of the actual mesh, and a render. Please give feedback. Thanks.

Nice work so far, looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
I love the original Robocop movie and Robocop 2 had its moments. Not sure what to expect from the remake of Robocop to be released in 3D 2010.

@ thatblack - hehe, that indicates you need sleep ;)
here is an update. i didn´t came up with something good yesterday. tried some new techniques, but failed, and after many hours, realizing what i did wrong all the time, i was so depressed, i wanted to trash this whole project. but after some hours of sleep i´m back on it, and started now modeling the lowerlegs.
c&c welcome as always.
